Tomorrow, December 13, is National Day of the Horse, and we’re excited to partner with the EQUUS Foundation for a special matching campaign.

Donations to our Annual Appeal made tomorrow will be matched up to $500.
Matching funds are capped at $35,000 and available to many non-profits—so don’t delay!

🐴 Meet Simba – The Gentle, Musical Soul of Misty Meadows! 🐴
Simba, a sweet and charismatic Thoroughbred, has been a cherished member of the Misty Meadows family since 2016. Standing at 15.2 hands with a bay-brown coat and a black mane & tail, he’s known for his gentle nature and love for connecting with people.

✨ Fun Facts About Simba:
He’s an Off-the-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) who traded racing for a life of kindness and fun.
Loves it when visitors play the drum for him—and he might even join in with a gentle nudge from his muzzle! 🥁
He’s always camera-ready for a photo op.
Simba’s warm, friendly personality and his unique quirks make him a true joy to be around. Stop by Misty Meadows and let Simba bring a smile to your day! 🧡

Did you know? 🐴 Horses have nearly 360-degree vision! They can see almost all around themselves, with just two small blind spots—one directly in front of their nose and one directly behind their tail. This wide field of vision helps them stay aware of their surroundings and detect potential danger.

🌿 Say hello to Tessa Brandt, our new Groundskeeper!
Tessa joined the island this past May, spending her summer and fall with the MV Land Bank’s trail crew. She first connected with Misty Meadows during a Sunday Mindfulness workshop and was inspired by our welcoming atmosphere and mission.

With a love for horses, nature, and community, Tessa is excited to contribute to Misty Meadows’ work and help keep our beautiful grounds thriving. Welcome, Tessa! 🌟

Lucky is a 20-year-old quarter horse gelding who came to us from a farm in Maine. With years of experience at summer camps and lesson programs, Lucky was looking for his next home—and we’re thrilled it’s with us!

The first thing you’ll notice about Lucky is his kind eye. Calm, confident, and eager to connect, Lucky is already fitting right in with the herd. Stop by and say hello! 💛
