UPDATE: We have received a few calls and messages from people interested in adopting Maya! While a home has not been selected yet, we have some great candidates! If, for any reason, we are unable to place Maya in one of these homes, we will reopen the adoption process! Thank you for your help finding this sweet pup a FUR-ever home! ♥️

With the Fourth of July right around the corner—and celebrations involving fireworks already starting—it’s time to think about how are pets are impacted. Here are a few ideas for this Independence Day:

🐾 In the event your pet manages to escape, make sure he or she is wearing a collar with identification and your contact information.

🐾 Keep your pet safely indoors during the fireworks shows. Even animals comfortable in many social situations may not do well with the loud noises and flashing lights.

🐾 Ensure your pet(s) have access to their favorite place to hide—their crate, under the bed, a closet.

🐾 Put favorite toys and longer lasting treats in their safe spaces to make it more fun.

🐾 Before fireworks begin, close the windows and shades. Muffle the sounds of fireworks by turning on music or the TV.

🐾Puppy (but the pet was a cat!)

🐾Bring treats and something that smells like home! Helps the pets feel more comfortable.

🐾All the animals I get to see--and the help I offer to owners.

🐾 I would spend the day kayaking and fishing!

❓What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone bringing their pet to the vet for the first time?
🐾 Don't worry, it is totally normal for your dog to p*e on the floor or leave us a little present. We're not offended and we'll even clean it up :)

❓What is your favorite part about working at JCAH?
🐾 I enjoy learning new things from doctors and staff. We're very much like a family! I also love building relationships with our amazing clients and patients! ❤

🐾 Huskies--they always have a response!

🐾 We start to recognize the voices of clients on the phone before they even tell us their name!

❓Who is your favorite patient that we see at JCAH?

🐾 That’s an impossible answer as all of our clients are awesome. Some of my favorites that visit weekly are Sammy, Teddy and Winston!
