Too cute to handle 🙈💕

Pepe le Pew is a possible Border Collie/Husky mix and weighed just under 15 lbs. at 11 weeks old. This little pumpkin is smaller than his sister Kallik but makes up for it in all his sweetness. He has a very soft black and white coat, with the sweetest white tip on his tail. He is more timid puppy & we are working on all the socialization with him. He warms up quickly and has just as much puppy energy when he does. In his foster home he has been exposed to children, cats, dogs, chickens and other farm animals. He is kenneled at night and when unsupervised with his sister. They have had no problems. He is a lover and very intelligent dog who has caught on to house training so quickly. He is the total package! Pepe le Pew needs an active family that can provide lots of play time and activities that stimulate his mentally. He will not be adopted to a family living in an apartment, condo, or townhouse due to her being vocal at times and needing a yard to play in. We are looking for a family that has experience owning active, vocal dogs and one that can keep up with a very active dog. Another active, social dog living in the home is also a plus.

There is no denying him! 💕💕💕

Akela is a possible Border Collie/Husky mix and weighed just under 10 lbs. at 10 weeks old. Akela enjoys belly and neck scratches, which produces a perfectly timed leg kick when you hit the right spot. He loves to run and play outside, and is easily entertained with a squeaky toy, crinkle toy or a rope bone. Once he gets some energy out, he loves to be held and snuggled and will give gentle kisses when he's picked up. If you're sitting on the floor, he will politely help himself to a comfy spot on your lap. Akela has done well in a kennel at night, and when his foster family is away. He is doing well with potty training when given a limited play area and taken outside regularly. Akela enjoys the other dogs in his foster home and is good with taking their social cues and being respectful. He has not been exposed to cats or kids but would likely do well with proper introductions. He will likely do well with cats and kids with proper, slow introductions. Akela needs an active family that can provide lots of play time and activities that stimulate his mentally. He will not be adopted to a family living in an apartment, condo, or townhouse due to his being vocal at times and needing a yard to play in. We are looking for a family that has experience owning active, vocal dogs and one that can keep up with a very active dog. Another active, social dog living in the home is also a plus.

This gorgeous girl is gonna make someone over the moon happy!!! 💕💕💕

Kallik is a possible Border Collie/Husky mix and weighed just under 14 lbs. at 11 weeks old. Beauty & brains! She has an all-white coat, with one black eye & one blue eye. She has a shining, outgoing personality! In her foster home she has been exposed to children, cats, dogs, chickens and other farm animals and hasn't met a stranger yet! She is very Intelligent and has taken to house training very easily. She is kenneled at night & when unsupervised with no problems. She will make a great addition to any family with other animals! Kallik needs an active family that can provide lots of play time and activities that stimulate her. She will not be adopted to a family living in shared walk livung such as an apartment, condo, or townhouse due to her being vocal at times and needing a yard to play in. We are looking for a family that has experience owning active, vocal dogs and one that can keep up with a very active dog. Another active, social dog living in the home is also a plus.

I can’t foster because I won’t be able to give them up…

Falling in love is part of the job! So is learning all about your foster animals and meeting potential adopters with you being actively involved with picking the best fit adoptor for your foster animals. Plus we encourage and welcome foster parents and adoptors to join our alumni group and/or stay in touch!

We continue to need more foster homes within a reasonable travel distance to central Iowa.

Buster Who is an approximate 11-week-old, 13 lb., male, possible Cattle Dog/Heeler mix. He came from a shelter in Oklahoma with his momma, sister, and brother. He was born at a truck stop in Oklahoma after his momma was dumped there and became pregnant. Momma has the look of an Australian Kelpie. She is small and only around 25 lbs. Buster and his siblings will likely be around 40 lbs. full grown. We have no idea who Daddy is, so his breed mix is unknown. Buster came into rescue about 5 weeks old and very cautious of people. He has opened up the past couple of weeks and is getting more and more brave every day. He needs continued socialization and a loving forever home that can show him the world and help him gain experience so he can be the carefree puppy he deserves to be. He has been getting outside to explore and work on his bravery, and he loves it! He is a clean slate with being a house dog and will need all the training going forward. His foster mom is working on helping him feel safe outside and gaining experience to help his confidence. He is a sweet little boy that has so much potential. He will need to work on house training, leash training, and kennel training with his new family.

Beans Who is an approximate 11-week-old, 12 lb., male, possible Cattle Dog/Heeler mix. He came from a shelter in Oklahoma with his momma, sister, and brother. He was born at a truck stop in Oklahoma after his momma was dumped there and became pregnant. Momma has the look of an Australian Kelpie and is in our car. She is small and only around 30 lbs. Ebony is a 7 month old (dob 06/30/24) 42 lb., female German Doodle (German Shepherd/Golden Doodle mix). Her daddy is a purebred German Shepherd and her mama is a mini Golden Doodle. She was a local owner surrender along with sister Tina.
When she first entered her foster home, she was really scared of the three other dogs already living there, but she has made wonderful progress integrating into the pack. She wrestles and plays non-stop with them now. They snuggle and like to sleep together as well. She really likes the teenage boys she lives with in her foster home. She loves laying with them when they are watching movies and playing fetch. She really likes it when they chase her around like hide and seek.

Meet Tina, a 7-month-old, 40 lb., female, German Doodle (German Shepherd/Poodle Mix). She is a local owner surrender whose daddy is a purebred German Shepherd and mama is a mini Golden Doodle. Tina is a professional snuggle bug that excels in cuddling her foster humans and fur-siblings! This sweet girl loves playtime and is certainly up for a game of fetch outdoors anytime. If you get her excited, she will woof at you with a ball in her mouth; it will keep you smiling and laughing for hours!
