The vision of the Burlington County Animal Shelter is to create an environment where all animals receive appropriate care, love, and attention at all times. To ensure the best possible quality of life for all of our animals we work hard to promote respect and reverence by establishing a “no kill” philosophy. We strive to ensure our animals are placed in loving, responsible, committed permanent hom

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, and receive veterinary care while they await placement into their forever homes. Additionally, the Burlington County Animal Shelter also provides the essential services for reuniting lost pets with their owners. 🐾🐕 It's time to & we are so excited to once again feature this goofy Pit/Lab Mix girl, SOPHIE (55066695) 🥰‼ She's currently with an amazing Foster Dad +Mom who has been doing such an outstanding job with her ‼ Here's what he had to say about sweet Soph:
🐾🐕"Sophie (AKA Sophie Girl, Sophie Lynn, & Soph-a-loafs) is still looking for her forever home. She’s been here for 4 months & sadly, has drawn no interest. 😞 Sophie is both goofy & playful with those big floppy ears & derpy underbite‼ Her story is she came to the shelter in January after being picked up as a stray, & like many dogs that are picked up, no one ever came to get her. Sophie is estimated to be about 1 year old, & after a doggy DNA test we were right about her Pitbull-Labrador Retriever Mix🎊😉. Here is what we can share in the 5 months that she’s been here:
🐾🐕Crate trained and housebroken (a consistent schedule & routine is key). She will go to the back door to tell you she needs to go potty.
🐾🐕LOVES people, but can be jumpy & mouthy when excited. She still acts very much like a puppy.
🐾🐕Knows her basic commands & is VERY treat-motivated.
🐾🐕She loves running around the house & you can always find her carrying a Kong, bone, or chew toy.
🐾🐕Walks well on a leash, but easily distracted by birds, squirrels, or leaves that blow by.
🐾🐕She loves to run & burn energy, so an ACTIVE individual or a fenced-in yard would be ideal, but not required.
🐾🐕At this point, we feel she is dog-selective. With proper introductions, she may get along with other dogs. As always, if you have another dog(s), a dog meet is REQUIRED‼
🐾🐕Sophie has done excellent with neighborhood kids (5+). She does like to jump up to give kisses & doesn’t realize her size (55lbs). 😆 ~~~
Sophie will thrive in just about any home. She’s very playful, affectionate, & cuddly, & as a young pup, has many years of love to give. If you are interested in learning more about Sophie or meeting her, please reach out to the shelter directly by submitting your application ‼🐾🐕"

🐾🎊It's Tuesday & it's time for a happy courtesy of the Romano Family ‼🐾 Remember Franklin ❓This, now 1½-year-old Pug Boxer mix, now known as Dice, came to us as a stray & was loads of fun from the start‼ Now, he is living well & loving life with the Romano Family‼ Here's what they had to say about him:
"Hello Staff at BCAS just wanted to check in & give an update on my buddy Dice (Franklin) who we adopted in February. He’s adapted well to our family. He’s a little crazy at times with lots of energy and a little nervous and anxious. He’s definitely a great boy, and I wanted to share some updated photos of him as he’s a very happy, sweet, loving strong boy. Thank you again for the opportunity to share this with you all & for letting us adopt such a great dog." ~ Romano Family.... Thank YOU for seeing what we loved best about him & making the decision to accept him into your family‼🐾🎊 Happy Life, Dice ‼

🐾⚠🦠People forget that while wildlife can be cute, beautiful, or even exotic, they can also be dangerous⚠‼ Warmer weather increases the possibility of coming across wild animals – many of which can carry rabies🦠 – so New Jersey Residents are encouraged to be especially vigilant during these summer months. Rabies is a potentially deadly virus that is primarily spread by infected animals. All mammals are believed to be susceptible to the disease with some of the most common cases being feral cats🐱, raccoons, bats🦇, foxes, groundhogs, coyotes, skunks, & little chipmunks🐿. Usually, this disease is transmitted from animal to animal through bites, but it can also be transmitted to humans (zoonotic). While death from rabies is rare in the United States, we must practice safety precautions to reduce our chances of exposure‼
You should:
🐾🦠🖐Avoid contact with animals you don’t know.
🐾🩺💉Make sure your pets receive the proper immunizations. Dogs & cats should receive rabies vaccines by 3 months of age, followed by a booster shot one year later, & another one every year to 3 years as prescribed by your veterinarian🩺
🐾🦠❌Do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract wild animals with open garbage cans or leave pet food out at night.
🐾🦠❌Never adopt wild animals/mammals or bring them into your home.
🐾🦠Do NOT try to nurse sick animals to health‼️ 📞Call animal control or a properly licensed animal rescue agency for assistance.
🐾🦠👧🧑‍🦱Teach children to NEVER handle unfamiliar animals, wild or domestic, even if they appear friendly. “Love your own, leave other animals alone” is a good principle to learn‼️

D 33241379 Max adopted from the shelter as a kitten and thought he had found his forever home. Now at 8 years old, he finds himself seeking a new forever home. The other cat in the house didn't like Max, but perhaps he'd do well with a friendly cat! Max has lived with children and got along well. He's always been an indoor cat; friendly to all, a gentle player and affectionate boy. Could Max be your new friend? He is vaccinated; neutered, and tested FIV/Felv negative. His adoption fee has been waived by the shelter, ask to meet him!

🐾🏊‍♀️It's time for some Pet Pool Safety Awareness‼ 🏊‍♀️🐾 Safety is often at the forefront of pet owners’ minds as far as their little humans are concerned, but what about their pets❓It is important that we, as pet owners, take precautions to stop our Furry Family Members from going near our pool unsupervised. To ensure their safety, they should NEVER be left unattended around a backyard pool, even if you are right inside the house‼ 🐾🏊‍♀️Your backyard pool may be fun, but it can be a big hazard for any pet, particularly if they are a breed that is not suited to swimming. The ASPCA has provided an amazing infographic that details some of the main dangers & what to watch out for during our summer pool activities.

⚠️🐾NOTE: Fencing plays a CRUCIAL role in keeping your animals safe, especially around your home's personal pool. Many Community laws require fencing around pools to be a minimum of a 48-inch high & tightly latched. A good added measure would also be to install a gate alarm &/or tight pool covers when the pool is not in use. Utilizing these safety measures can ensure that your pets stay safe & sound during these happy, fun summer months. 🐾🏊‍♀️

🐾🎉🐕 Here's another from another wonderful Alumni 🐾🎉🐕 It's RUDOLPH (now Rocky) ‼️🥰 This happy boy was such a love with us, & now he's the love of the Banko Family's lives ‼️ Here's what they had to say about their boy:
"Hi! We wanted to give you an update on how our baby is doing since we rescued him in January. When we picked him up, his name was Rudolph, and he was 71 lbs. He proved to be more of a Rocky than Rudolph and is now a healthy 101 lbs of pure love bug! He is doing great and gets along amazingly with our male c, t and he tolerates our female cat 😅. He actually cowers down to her 15 lb little butt! Thank you so much for everything you all do! Without you, these babies would never get another chance at life. Here's some pictures of Rocky now ❤️" ~ To the Banko Family, it is because of families like you who give these loving fur babies a chance at love & a happy life that that we are motivated to keep pushing forward & doing this job. ❤️ Happy Life, Rocky & The Banko Family

🐾🎉 It's time for another update‼️Here's one we could not wait to share as this fuzzy white snowball gave us lots of laughs. Remember Beyaz❓️Beyaz, now Bunny, found his forever home, & here's what the Keir Family had to say:
"Good morning! My mom and I adopted Beyaz a few months ago! His name is now Bunny and he’s made himself right at home! He loves toys and his cat tunnel. He also loves to snuggle, have his chin scratched, go in bags, and lay on square/ rectangular things (laptop, piece of paper) 😂❤️ He is very good with my 2 year old daughter and is obsessed with my boyfriend. Bunny also knows how to sit for treats and jump up on the couch/ bed when we ask him to! He’s such a smart and sweet kitty, and we couldn’t be happier with him! 💕 Thank you to your shelter for having such an amazing staff and making the process smooth!💕 " ~ Thank YOU for adopting him & giving him his best life‼️🐾🎉
