Forgotten Felines, Inc. is a charitable, non-profit organization with a mission to stop the proliferation of homeless cats living hard lives and struggling to find food and shelter on the streets of our local communities. We have all the cats we rescue spayed or neutered, vaccinated, given thorough health exams, and tested for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). At our no-kill shelter, we provide nutritious food, warm beds and expert care to as many cats as possible with the goal of finding them permanent, loving homes. We release feral cats into managed colonies where they are fed and sheltered.

Sweet Sunny!

Sunny is a 5 year old lovely long-haired guy who is new to the shelter. He is still getting use to life in his new space after being shuffled about and is a little on the shy side, but he adores the donated meat tubes, and he is slowly get use to us! It looks like it will not take too long for him to realize that he is in a safe place while he waits for his very own family. He will certainly bring sunshine into your life! Check out his beautiful coat in the comment section below.

Apollo is another newbie at the shelter. As this video by volunteer Genevieve shows, Apollo does not shy away from human interaction and enjoys petting and praise! I just noticed his description says he is a black ghost tabby, but I did not notice this in the dim light of the Yellow Room. All cats have tabby patterns, but this tabby pattern is masked if the cat is solid. The tabby pattern can sometimes still be seen on some solid-color cats, especially on kittens, and it's referred to as “ghost markings". Otherwise this handsome 4 year old mini black panther is easy to recognize with his bent left ear and adorable face- check out the cute photos in the comment section and come visit him Saturday!

On behalf of his new friends, Gus would like to request donations of food as he heard our cupboards are getting very bare! Some of his friends need coaxing to eat because they are ill, have mouth issues, are new to the shelter and do not partake of the shared food, etc. Luckily Gus is an easy going teddy bear of a guy, and has no trouble in the eating department, but other kitties in the shelter need these special foods to stimulate their appetites. If you would like to help Gus get the much needed foods to his friends, please check out our Amazon wish list! Amazon Gift cards are also appreciated. Gus says thanks so much!

Our girl Kali finally has left the infirmary and has been loving life back in her Blue Room! She had been playing hard to get since she arrived back in 2022 and after her stay in the infirmary for mouth issues, Kali turned into a big torti love bug! Kali loves to be combed and brushed and has the largest rumbling purr. Look at her gorgeous green eyes and her 'peanut butter paw' (thanks Genevieve for that!)! Check out the video in the comments section below where she is playing so excitedly with the laser light toy, also with Genevieve.

Monday with Marty!

3 year old Marty has made tremendous progress since he arrived at the shelter with a broken hip/pelvis, spending over 6 weeks on cage rest in the shelter infirmary. When he was released into the Green room, he tucked himself away from the scary humans until the volunteers started to play with him and offered him some yummy meat tubes (thank you for the donations!). Fast forward to today and look at him go! Marty is a big love, enjoys other cats like his boy band pals, and would be so happy to find a family of his own. Please come visit this handsome fellow Saturday!

Sibling Sunday!

Though Gus and Kate are not littermates, they were both adopted from us by the same adopter and had enjoyed life together. Sadly they found themselves back at the shelter when their person passed away recently. They seem to remember the shelter and are fond of the volunteers who care for them and did not have much trouble adjusting. Both love attention and 6 year old Gus, the gray teddy bear, is especially fond of petting and brushing and will follow you around to make sure he gets his fair share of it! Darling 8 year old Kate is a beautiful dilute calico and is as sweet as Gus is silly! See below in the comments for videos of these two!

Tuesday with Tyler the Toughie!

If you have been following our page for a long time, you will familiar with our resident tough guy in our Green Room. You would always find Tyler on this corner shelf and if you got anywhere near him, he would glare at you and hiss fiercely. 2 years ago he started hanging out on the towers and we could get closer without the glare and the hiss- progress! He also joined the many large cuddle puddles and it was so heartening to see him there soaking up some kitty love. Super socializer Sander has been working with Tyler and earlier this year you saw that Tyler was allowing pets, though he looked like he was not too fond of this strange feeling yet. Fast forward to today and he is looking much more relaxed! Sander has a soft, soothing, gentle way with the cats who do not care for human companionship and we are so happy that Tyler is more relaxed and happier to be around us!

Thanks to volunteer Terry for capturing and sharing this video.

Shout out to Hope, Sienna and Jet in our Peach Room for their picture perfect set up! Our kitties love to relax on a holiday long weekend, or any weekend or weekday in fact! Nice to see shy Hope out and about. Sienna would not lift up her head even with all the noise I was making, and dear Jet looks like he had enough and wanted me just to take the photo 😹!

Sweetheart Sunday!
Fernanda is a new friendly girl in our Blue Room. She was living outside being fed for 3 years by someone who recently was getting evicted when we were asked to rescue her. Fernanda loves attention and is very mild- mannered. This 8 year old darling probably cannot imagine what a warm safe home is like, with her very own comfy bed or warm lap to curl up on and endless pets and love. We hope someone falls in love with her and gives her the comfort and love that would make her so happy! Come meet her!

POPPY IS LONELY!

Poor little Poppy is all alone. Her siblings were recently adopted, and she is the last to find a home. Poppy is a young black and white short-haired kitten who is very playful, cuddly and loves to sleep on a lap. She would be happiest in a home with another feline playmate. Could you open your heart to give this sweet baby a loving and permanent home?

If you would like to meet precious Poppy, submit an adoption application at www.forgottenfelinesct.org. Find Your Match At Forgotten Felines: Forgotten Felines holds an open house every Saturday from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at 153 Horse Hill Road, Westbrook. No appointment is necessary.

Forgotten Felines is run entirely by dedicated volunteers with no paid staff. We are always in desperate need of volunteers to help care for the cats and keep our facility clean and organized. If you can donate your time, it will be very rewarding and much appreciated. Call the volunteer line at 860-669-1347.

Truffles just can't help himself when it comes to play. This sweet little guy loves other cats, playtime, and treats. He's still building his confidence when it comes to pets, but in the right home with a feline friend or two (he loves Jet & Sienna!) he could make progress with plenty of patience and play.
