A Great Dane walks into a shelter; the staff says, "why the long face?"

Ok, maybe you've heard that one before, but you've probably never met a dog like Delilah! This gorgeous girl has a heart as big as her paws. It might take her a little bit to warm up to new people, but once she does you're friends for life - then you can tell her all the bad jokes you want.

We think Delilah would do well in a home with other dogs and cats given the right introductions, and would prefer to live with teenagers and up. If you're looking for a large lapdog to add to your life, come meet Delilah!

Hi, I'm Jack! I'm a sweet and energetic pup looking for my new family. I love a good run around the yard and playing with my stuffy toys, in case you couldn't tell. I might jump up to say hello or get into mischief now and then, but I think a patient family that can help me settle into a new routine is just what I need!

I've lived with other dogs and cats and kids before, but I'd like to meet any new friends here at the shelter before we move in together, just to make sure we'd get along. Come visit me at the ARLGP - if you think you can keep up with me!

Sansumo, Murphy and even our gerbil Oreo are wishing you a happy St. Patrick's Day! The luckiest thing we could hope for is all three finding their new homes.

Sansumo is the life of the party and had no problem hamming it up for the camera, if you couldn't tell.

Murphy is a handsome and active dog that thrives on using his brain, and would do well with an engaged family looking for an adventure buddy.

Oreo is a sweet and curious gerbil who loves her fruit and veggie treats. She'd like to live alone in her enclosure with some (supervised) time roaming free with her human friends.

A special thank you to our friends Dr. Cote, Dr. Carlson and the entire Androscoggin Animal Hospital team for helping us with dentals for two of our dogs, Julia and Gumdrop. Dentals are expensive and time-consuming, and with their help we were able to send our dogs to their new homes faster and allow our clinic to help more incoming pets. Want your dog to be the next great doggy athlete like Stormy? Everyone has to start somewhere!

Our April training classes are open for sign-ups now, including beginner, intermediate and advanced Canine Good Citizen courses. These classes work on out-and-about behaviors like leash walking and manners around strangers.

If your pre-teen puppy is a handful, our Atomic Adolescent class is perfect for dogs who insist, "it's not just a phase, Mom!" For puppies 5-10 months old, this course helps build consistency, confidence and impulse control early on.

Happy Birthday Yeti!! Our biggest boy turns four years old today. He was spoiled with a Yeti-size rope toy and peanut butter Kong, and a not quite Yeti-size birthday hat and bandana. He also go to do his favorite activity, which is sitting on his friends.

Here's hoping your Sunday is this cozy. If you're looking to add someone to your own cuddle puddle, we have just the cats. Some of our Tiny Tigers can take a little longer to come around to snuggling humans, but no one can say the reward isn't worth it!

3-year-old Ben is very smart and a little sassy. As one of our Cat Pawsitive cats, he's learned all kinds of tricks to show off. He'll have plenty of time to practice now in *his new home* as Ben was adopted right after we filmed this! Thanks to our community partner Spectrum Real Estate for helping us show off our pets each month in our Spectrum Pet Spotlight!

What a year 2024 has been - 365 days of caring for local pets; of hard work by our volunteers, fosters and staff; and of finding loving homes and families for thousands of pets in need. All of these accomplishments are thanks to YOU and the support you provide our organization every day. We can't wait to take on 2025 with you!

One thing we learned about Usha while she was with us is how tightly she bonds to her favorite people. When she was finally adopted, she just had to stop and say goodbye! Imagine being the family that gets to enjoy this much love every day. . . . . . . #adopt #shelterdog #animalrescue #dogs

Happy Thanksgiving! While we are closed to the public today, we are immensely thankful for all of the staff and volunteers who will be working to care for our animals today. And of course we couldn't go without celebrating with our pets as well! Our dogs got spoiled with their own turkey dinner for the holiday, hand delivered by room service.
