Always make sure you are brushing your dog through fully at home with a comb to avoid matting, it is super important! Matting is painful for your babies and can lead to loss of blood supply, bruising, hot spots, bacterial/fungal infections, etc… I understand brushing can be time consuming so if you aren’t able to brush your dog often, make sure your dog is on a consistent schedule with a groomer! Sometimes from the outside the fur might look fine but you need to make sure you can get a comb through it completely. When matting occurs the only option is to shave completely underneath them down to the skin.
