If any of you happen to plan on watching the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this evening, keep an eye out in the Herding Group for the Lancashire Heeler.

Why? He is CH Prestige Thakurji of Kimmark (aka Kanji) who happens to be owned by DYD!'s very own Heidi Benson!

He won Best of Breed earlier today and is getting ready to hit the infamous green carpet for a once in a lifetime moment at Madison Square Garden!

Heidi is going to be there watching her boy take the spotlight at where he will be handled by his wonderful co-owner, Kim McIntyre.

Wow, what an awesome Barn Hunt weekend we had! Thank you to everyone who traveled with the questionable weather. The trials were FULL both days, we had great courses and lots of fun! Many, many thanks to Jessica Edgerly for coming out to judge! If you haven't been to her place in Colchester, CT (Central K9) please check them out. We hope to have Jess back again.

Thanks also as always to our trail secretary Wendy, because without her, nothing would happen. And a special shout out to the DYD! team of Shayla & Rosie who stay late after working all day Friday to set everything up for the weekend.

I just happened to come across the little guy
And thought, he would be exactly the one that I would want if I was looking to adopt a friend for my dog..... yet he keeps getting overlooked.

Anyone here looking for a little portable companion?

STILL WAITING TO BE ADOPTED!!!
🐾 MAX is a 3 year old small breed mix weighing 14lbs. He has been with us for a few months now and keeps getting overlooked, especially right now as everyone seems to just be looking for a puppy to put under their tree 🙄
🐾 MAX is fully vetted and is great with other dogs. He would do fine with another playful dog in the home but could also be fine as an only dog with lots of play time! Max surely needs a fenced in yard as he loooooves to run, run and RUN! He absolutely loves toys and can play all day but then crashes hard for cuddles under the blanket! He is quite affectionate and would love to be adopted!

Shocking! 😂

It took scientists & research to come to the a conclusion what we trainers have been telling dog owners since, well forever.

Harnesses were LITERALLY invented to aid an animal in pulling unencumbered. Its makes the dog owner 'feel' better that their dog isn't 'choking' themselves, but the reality is they are creating an even worse habit.

The solution? TRAIN your dog to not pull. Its really that simple and effective. The tool doesn't stop your dog from pulling, training does!

Dogs generally pull about 60 per cent harder on a leash when wearing a padded harness compared with a collar, even when the equipment is marketed as “anti pull” – putting the people walking them at risk of injury.

Some dogs – especially smaller breeds – pull with a force more than twice their body weight on the collar, potentially damaging their throats, says Erin Perry at Southern Illinois University.

“It’s really very shocking,” she says. “The dogs are almost choking themselves on that collar repeatedly. But the harnesses in our study just didn’t inhibit pulling in any way, and that’s definitely a wake-up call – especially because of the risk to owners.”
