To all past Blendon Kennels customers,

I was informed today that a mass mailing has been sent to a large portion of our customers. I apologize that this happened. Our groomers were given the list of their existing customers to give them the opportunity to contact the customer to give their contact information and their new place of employment. This information was NOT sold and should not have been used for a mass mailing from another business. While the letter was signed from Blendon Kennels, it was not from Blendon Kennels. The mailing was made from Sterling K9 Retreat on Shrock Road and was not authorized by Blendon Kennels. The letter was crafted in such a fashion to mislead all our customers into thinking we were recommending Sterling K9 Grooming and that is not the truth. Again I apologize that this happened but it was done without our knowledge nor consent. Please disregard anything sent from them under the Blendon Kennels name.

This is Dave Kromer‘s wife, Sharon. I want to take this opportunity to reach out to each and every past and present customer of Blendon Kennels. We are all grieving the loss of Dave after his difficult battle with cancer ended. He and I had many discussions over the last few years of the future of the kennel. Blendon Kennels may not exist after the end of April but Dave’s 45 year legacy will live on. He has had several employees move on and start their own businesses as well as many employees moving on to groom at other locations. He was a mentor to many, many people. He had a very kind, caring heart, and he put that caring into all of his customers and their dogs, as well as his employees

I also want to thank all of our employees over the years for all of their efforts at keeping the business going. But I especially want to give a huge heartfelt thank you to Lynn and Jenn for all the extra effort they put into keeping the business running in the 14 months that Dave was too weak to participate. I continued to do as much as I could as I took care of Dave but without all of our employees that wouldn’t have been possible. Lynn and Jenn shouldered a lot for me. I also want to thank Spencer and Kathy and Collin and Mia for their dedication to taking care of the dogs and helping Lynn and Jenn keep things running. Everyone has been fantastic at helping me get to the point of being able to close the business. It was a hard decision for Dave and I to make for this to be the final plan but it was the right one. I am at peace with this decision knowing that Lynn and Jenn and Spencer have a path going forward and will do their best to still service our customers.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to both customers and employees.

Dear Blendon Kennels Family;

In January we shared the loss of our owner Dave Kromer. We come to you again with a heavy heart. Your home for grooming and boarding will be coming to a close at the end of this month. Many of you already know we have shut down our boarding services as of last month. This decision has not been made lightly, but we do want you to know this news comes with a silver lining. We will continue to serve our clients!

If your dogs have been groomed by Lynn, she has already let you know what to do 🥰

If you are one of Jennifer’s clients, she has shared the news that she will be moving to Sterling K-9 Retreat on Schrock road.

If you’re you are apart of our boarding family, Spencer is stepping up to take care of your pups either at her own home or yours.

We wish to thank you all for your trust, kindness and support for all the years Blendon Kennels has been apart of your lives and ours.

We want to express our deepest condolences to the family of Ron Keller - owner of Captivating Canines here in Uptown Westerville. Ron passed away this morning with his family by his side.

Ron was a friend to many and was known for his love of our furry friends - especially dogs. His store held countless adoption events and advocated tirelessly for so many pets to find loving homes.

Dear Blendon Kennels extended Family

It is with a heavy heart we share the great loss of John (Dave) Kromer, the owner of Blendon Kennels, a life to be celebrated in our hearts, thoughts, prayers and memories. Dave and his wife Sharon were living their dream lives in their little piece of heaven when 14 months ago Dave was diagnosed with cancer. During that time, Sharon was his rock as he fought valiantly with her by his side. Not only did she take remarkable care of him at home, but she took over the behind the scenes operations that keep us running when he became too weak to do so. Sharon was also a great source of strength for the staff here as well. Dave passed away peacefully at home, Monday morning, with his family by his side. In our sharing, we also wish for peace and comfort for Dave's wife Sharon as she endures a painful journey of farewell. Fireworks are scary, and your local dog warden will be picking up more dogs during the Fourth of July holiday than any other time of the year.
If you do take your dog out, make sure you tighten his collar. You should just be able to barely fit two fingers between the dog and the collar.
Make sure your dog has his license and rabies tags on his collar, even if you aren't planning on taking him out. Tags will show a dog warden that your dog is owned. Add a name tag with your contact info, if you have one.
Take this time to take a current picture of your dog, and take pictures from multiple angles.

NOW is the time to make sure microchips are updated with current information, calming medications are restocked. tags on collars are checked, and fenced are secured

We’re booking up FAST for the July 4th holiday. Due to limited staff we are not accepting any new lrg dogs for boarding and are accepting new sm/med on a case by case basis.
