Awesome velvet mule deer, just finished a whitenening job on it and thought this would be a good example to share. The condition of your skull, cape or what ever else your looking to have preserved and mounted is going to determine the outcome. When a skull is left with any tissue, grease and blood on it for long periods of time and drys up, or is hard boiled it’s close to impossible to get that stain completely out with peroxide. No fault to the hunter, as he did what he was supposed to so he could travel back with this beautiful buck! Just wanted to throw that out there as I’ve seen a good number of skulls like this brought to me over the years.
Your best bet for a perfectly white euro is to keep the fur on and get it in a freezer or right to your taxidermist. That or know that a proper paint job is another route you can take, though it takes away from the natural bone just some thing to consider. One way or another here at DHT I will do my absolute best to snap your old skulls back!
Thanks Charlie for the opportunity to work with this velvet Muley! Not every day I get to see one of these!
