Sand, salt and sunshine…… and a bit more freedom 🇺🇸 life is good
When your nice walk in the woods ends up like this 🙀😹😹😹
Anyone else have a dog who loves the water and/mud this much? (Share a pic if you have one)
Bay is crushing her training….
It’s taken some time, but this super independent thinking dog, has learned some manners and boundaries. She has also learned how to play a little more appropriate and how to access that “off” switch ….
She loves practicing her recall and working for food and fun! 🎉Super proud of this girl ♥️
Toby has been having fun and working hard this summer! He has spent his time here, socializing with children and other dogs, exploring new places, practicing both on and off leash obedience and loving every minute of his training!
Here we are practicing his verbal cues, while being aware of what body language signals we give. Fading out excessive cues is important, if we want a dog to focus on our words.
His family has us using the verbal cue “gel” which is Turkish, for his recall. Toby spends a lot of time at the lake and a solid recall is necessary for a dog to be given off leash freedom. We will spend some more time practicing and putting finishing touches on his obedience with higher distractions!

In this video, we ask Toby for a “touch”, “down”, “gel”, “sit”, and “heel”.
Does your dog really know what you are saying?
Often dogs read our body language, and are better at predicting what we will do next, than we are! Many times they do what we are asking, without us even giving a verbal cue.
Fading out cues, so the dog actually listens to the words isn’t as easy as it looks! It takes a lot of practice and a lot of consistency to get here.
Go ahead, give it a try…. See how well your dog does!
First… we teach them what we want them to do..
Steps vary for each dog in training..
Daisy has learned many things and will continue to fine tune this week before heading home. Some of what she has learned and will practice hard this coming week is:
1. What we want her to do
2. how to find her advantage in the behavior
3. Clarity in verbal cue in low distraction
4. Love for the work and love for the behavior
5. Faith in handler - teamwork in training
6. Toughness pays- fear gets no reward
7. How to access an off switch
Now, the real fun begins girl!! 🐾💪🏼
