So you've found a puppy and the breeder has done every physical, and mental simulation under the sun. The puppy has been offered every variety of toy and challenge. They have been up, down, all around and smelled 97 fragrances. But have you asked yourself, has my puppy been shown how to just be? Without any external stimulation or attention?
Have they been taught or introduced at all to just self regulating in a non stimulating environment? The reality is, for most families, you cannot offer 24/7 stimulation and activity choices for your new puppy. You cannot go buy a new toy every single time they get bored with their existing selection. As much entertainment as you provide to a puppy, they need to know how to regulate themselves without all the extra "stuff".
This takes time and practice, but introducing it in the first 8 weeks and continuing from there is Vitaly important. A puppy who has never been left to just be, will struggle more to learn emotional regulation than a puppy who has been given the opportunity from the the time they were just tiny.
*NOT to say that all the other things aren't important as well; but don't get caught up in the marketing of the 8 million activities your new puppy was exposed to, look at the whole picture of the life span of the dog. They will not have constant stimulation their entire life, and boredom leads to destruction.

Located directly under her chin is the power button....🔴 I cannot tell you how many times I've "lost power" while trying to work on the computer.... She could just be trying to save me from online shopping for things I really don't need.

As we drive to the airport and she watches the ridiculous snow storm we've had roll in on day 11 of spring, I feel confident she's thinking " Thank God I'm headed to Texas, into the sun and more reasonable tempatures".
