Are you an animal lover looking for a way to give back to your community? Look no further! The Mon County Canine Adoption Center is always in need of volunteers to help care for our furry friends. Whether you're looking to walk dogs, socialize with cats, or help with housekeeping duties, we have a place for you!

Volunteering at the animal shelter is a great way to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. You'll get to meet new people, learn new skills, and most importantly, help our animals find their forever homes.

This classy young man is a jack of all trades! He loves to play, cuddle, and explore! Rather you're walking the trails or watching a movie on the couch Chappy just wants to be a part of it. He does great on a leash and our volunteers love him for it! He is a little weary of cats so a dog only household would be best!

Piglet is what we like to call an energized couch potato. Most of the time you can find her laying on a fuzzy blanket but on occasion she will ask to play fetch. She absolutely loves being pet! She also walks pretty well on a leash and even knows sit and lay down!

Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week is celebrated each year in the third week of September. Some shelter animals have harder times finding forever homes than others. During this time, we want to spread the word and encourage adopters to give these unique animals a chance! Spread the word on social media, adopt or foster a less desired shelter animal, or donate a Kuranda bed to one of these pets!

Welcome to our new page!
Please read this post for important information!

1. If you are interested in an animal, you MUST come in and meet them! You can call and ask if the animal is still available, but we will not discuss details over the phone or Facebook. The canine center does not list breeds on photos. We never know for sure but can discuss it when you come in.

2. LOST AND FOUND
We have created an email specifically for lost and found pets. We check it daily and compare them to the animals in our care.
If you have lost or found a pet, you can email us at [email protected]
Please include:
◼ The pets name
◼ The location they were found/lost
◼ Your Contact information
(Name, number, address)
◼ A photo - most important!

3. Meet and Greets
We highly encourage you to bring your current pet to meet the potential new family member before making the final decision. We only ask that you bring someone else with you, to help with the introduction.

4. We do not respond to comments or messages on social media. You must call us at (304) 291-7267 or stop in at 106 Lockside RD Westover WV.

The Canine Center does not list breeds on photos. We never really know for sure but are happy to discuss it with you when you come to look at the dog or cat. We utilize Facebook as a means for you to see them and sometimes how they interact during a small temperment test. If your interested in any animal you must come to the facility to meet them. Your welcome to call to see if a dog/cat is still available before you come, but we do not allow "phone shopping".
We have new outdoor kennels for you to bring your dog to meet the potential new family member! Please bring another person to help with the introduction.
