MEET THE TEAM MONDAY:
This week is a bit different. Instead of highlighting one of our assistants, we will be highlighting three. These three ladies will be leaving us at Paw Prints to attend Veterinary School in the fall! As sad as we are to see them leave, we are so excited to see them grow and become amazing doctors!

First: Kylie Guercio has been an assistant at Paw Prints for 3 years. In August, she will start her journey to becoming a small animal/ companion exotic veterinarian at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. While working along Dr.Seiler, her interest for orthopedic surgery has grown, and she plans to follow in his footsteps.

Second: Allison Robinette has been working at PPVC for almost two years which developed a deep passion for small animal general practice. Yet, her upbringing of showing livestock and being around WVU farms, she sees herself integrating both small and large animals worlds together in her future career with an interest in ER and shelter medicine while at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Third: Kylee McGuire worked at Paw Prints for two years as an assistant and a customer service representative. She plans on studying mixed animal practice and large animal surgery at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Please wish these three girls the best of luck in their future endeavors.. who knows.. you may be seeing them in a few years as your pets veterinarian! 🐾🩺❤️

Did you know that less than 10% of the pets that are unchipped will return home each year?

A microchip is a secure, reliable, permanent identification for your pet and the process is simple and affordable. Microchipping your pet can help ensure that if your pet goes missing, they can be identified and find their way back to you.

If your pet is chipped, make sure their information is up to date. To help keep pets close to their loved ones, share this post and remind your friends to !

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.
