Beautiful, feminine and sweet KMSHA mare. 18 years old and 15h. Excellent producer of foals. Easy to breed. Easy to foal. Makes enough milk for 3 babies! She loves her job being a momma, but she’s also a good safe and kind riding mare for kids and novices. She follows along quietly on group rides and doesn’t get worked up even if others in the group do. She has great manners, no vices, loads and trailers well. All around really nice soft quiet mare. Currently in with Holy Smoke and will be available in foal(or speak now to stop that train LOL!) Thirtyfivehundred takes her. She’s already produced one carbon copy of Holy Smoke, and a really beautiful red dun c**t as well. Both are fantastically gaited offspring. Photos of them in the comments.

Jack does not believe in hair care. How one gets fairy knots around a braid is beyond me! He has no shame.

The importance of doing nothing.

Horses are really good at doing nothing when they are on their own terms.

Sometimes asking them to do nothing on your terms is met with a negative response.

One of the first things our foals are taught is to do nothing. Nothing comes before something. Intermittently, cautiously, building and growing, without bribery and with patience.

We believe it is one of the most important skills a horse can have when living side by side with humans. (There is a lot of nothing happening in this video, and that’s exactly what makes me happy.)

A sampling of some of the wonderful Rockies we have been riding in England in the last week for the Transatlantic Rocky Mountain Horse Club Showcase in Great Gidding, Cambridgeshire. We are so excited for the future of this breed in the UK and for the owners and club members that have worked so hard to get to this point.

This. 100%. When a new horse comes in for training and has an “attitude”, we let the herd work for us first, and observe the dynamic.

When two foals were born at the same time this season, the filly foal was quiet and friendly and the c**t was standoffish. Somewhat a reflection of their mothers. Rather than forcing myself on the c**t, or feeling like I didn’t care for his temperament, I gave him his space. Letting him play with his sister and learning social cues from the herd. Now at 3 months, he’s the bigger lovebug of the two! Nothing on my part other than engaging him if he was interested and going about my business if he wasn’t.

Horses need to learn from other horses, and a good Boss mare is worth her weight in gold!

“Junior” is a 15h black RMHA certified gelding. Aged 17. He’s an excellent trail horse. Nice big forward walk and one of the most natural and efficient gaits I’ve had the pleasure to ride. He just goes and goes. Over deadfall, through water, up muddy embankments…he would be a tremendous endurance horse. Solo riding or with other horses. No drama. He would be a lovely show horse as well, but he’s not a fan of closed off stalls. Loads into the trailer easy, backs off nicely. Barefoot. Bathes. Stands quietly for mounting and dismount. SUPER soft mouth. Gentle and well mannered. No vices. Not looking to spook, but very alert. Needs a calm and soft handed rider. This horse is really solid, but would not do well at all with heavy hands or an aggressive or busy rider. No problem with Florida heat and bugs. Started at 3 years old for a couple months, then a pasture buddy for a stallion for much of his life, so not a lot of “wear and tear” 😊Tuned up last fall after 13 years of leisure. His first ride back under saddle was flawless. Perfect gait. Excellent manners. Clearly doesn’t need every day riding to be a good boy. This boy is all try if you ask nicely. He wants to please and he’s looking for his 1 person to love. Located in Florida panhandle. Fresh coggins, recent dental and flu/rhino. 10k.
