We had a great day at Dale County Saddle Club’s double judged WOHA yesterday!

Genuinely one of our favorite places to show 💕 the covered arena is so nice during those hot days and the folks we spend the day with are absolutely wonderful!!

I’d love to share everyone’s placings, but if I’m being honest, I just don’t remember so enjoy my placings and the ribbon pictures below 😜 regardless, it was a dang good day for the MKPH crew!

We are always cutting up but we made a joke about finding out which of the two horses I trained and then showed in the trail class would come out on top….well….I don’t think I could manage this again if I tried!!

Happy 1st birthday to my not-so-little boy!! Kodak is officially 1yo old today. He exceeds my expectations every day. He is smart as a whip, sweet as they come and so easy to train. I can’t say enough good about this cross. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he is as roany as can be. My boy is growing up! I can hardly wait to get him under saddle. I just love everything about this c**t!

Even in his every day clothes, he sure is a handsome boy 💕 Can’t wait to see him continue to grow and flourish in the show ring!

Happy birthday little Savage girl 🥰

MK Navy Dunnit 95 turned 2 on Saturday! Savvy is a loving little girl, she got the best qualities from mama May and her handsome daddy Navy. Can’t wait to see her become a horse!

I forget how tiny she was - she’s really grown! My little full moon baby girl 💕 Savvy was the first MK bred horse and the first horse to tote the MK brand!

While I spent the day in Auburn, my kiddos took on another horse show and showed out!

These guys had some great rides today - so proud of everyone 🤩 we have kids in every discipline from halter classes to the timed events so those show days get long too

I gotta brag on Rylan and Kissin A Melody: they took first in the open western pleasure today!

Great job to everyone, I wish I had gotten to show with y’all 💕

Thankful for this woman who keeps my horses feeling their best!! Amazing the results we are already seeing 💕

So I totally forgot to post this last night. Lia, over at MK Performance Horses has been dealing with some hind-End issues for quite some time, she came that way. Then she'd left for a little bit and came back. She was actually worse off than she was, this was no fault of MK performance horses. So we have been doing body work on her with a ton of facial release. Progress was slow but happening so a few weeks ago we put her on the Equine Musculoskeleton Support blend. And last night I received this message from Mary.

This is a combination of Bodywork and herbs that focus on regenerating tissue and root cause healing and inflammation and pain. Naturally. Not so much that it's covering up the issue but actually healing some of the deeper problems.

I've said it a million times and I will say it again, even if people don't agree with me. What you put on the inside to feed the body to enable the body to heal itself, is what really truly matters.

Another weekend, another horse show!

It’s sad to see how many people would rather make passive aggressive and rude comments, especially to a child, than actually promote the sportsmanship and horsemanship that we should at a local saddle club but thankfully my kids are tough and roll with the punches!

I do not care who does not like me for calling out unsportsman-like conduct, especially when it pertains to kids. We are happy to get the opportunity to show horses and we are simply enjoying ourselves! It’s a sad day in the horse community when that becomes a problem.

We still managed to bring home lots of blues and other ribbons through the day - we don’t let others dull our shine, no matter how hard they may try 💕

While I was busy with judging a pageant today in Ozark, the barn took a trip out to the first WOHA show of the season!

I hate I missed showing with these kids today but to say I’m proud is quite the understatement!

We had quite a few class winners today and Megan Dunn/Peppys Alabama Rose brought home the Ranch Highpoint award - congratulations!! We will be showing again next week at DBSC 💕

To say I am excited about this boy’s future is the biggest understatement of the year. We’ve been working hard to add a few more classes to our repertoire for his yearling year of showing. We are eagerly awaiting the 2025 season!

This c**t is massive and is going to be a true hoss one day - Kodak is 9 MONTHS OLD and the round pen he is pictured in is 6FT TALL 😱

I am proud of this ad. I am proud of the few riders within my barn that I was able to showcase in this ad (note - we need to get professional photos of the entire show team this year, so we’ve already got one 2025 goal!) and I am truly proud to be building horsemen!

Vanhoozer was heavy on my mind when I was working through draft after draft of this ad (another note - shout out to the few I bombarded with ads until we landed here! Your patience with me is unmatched) I was going to borrow Vanhoozer’s adage of “Building Champions”, but it just didn’t feel right. That was her saying, not mine.

Building Horsemen is more fitting for MKPH and something I am far more proud of than the ribbons and trophies that line our walls - not that any of us are lacking in either 😉

Building Horsemen is a much tougher job but it’s certainly a much more rewarding job. We compete for the RIDE, not the ribbons! It is no secret at my barn that I am far more interested in you and your horse improving together than whether or not you place - that’s not always easy to teach to kids. Of course we want to win, everyone does!

Unpopular opinion - if all you are riding for is that 75¢ ribbon, you’ve already lost! Too many trainers, too many barns, too many “coaches” use these horses as vehicles for a prize or another accolade behind their names. You’ll never win it all! There will always be someone with more political ties than you or more money than you - it’s rare that they’re a better horseman.

In my opinion, the only person you are truly competing against is yourself. Anyone can sit on a made horse. There’s something so much more rewarding knowing you actually worked hard and created the partnership with your horse, your teammate, rather than being handed the shiny, new, expensive horse with autopilot built in.

My true joy in life is creating the new generation of horsemen. Fostering the partnership and pouring my passion for the ride into the next generation of equestrians is not something I take lightly. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to build horsemen at MKPH 💕

We all enjoy coming to show at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and the Autumn Classic is a great, relaxed show. We all had some great rides and made improvements along the way. Congratulations to all of our riders and their horses!!

Shout out to Olivia Schaule for showing the grit and determination of a true cowgirl today - she took a minor spill that we thought left her with a broken wrist. She insisted on wrapping it up and riding anyway - she laid down some nice rides despite the limitations and the pain!! Thankfully, after a doctor visit we’ve confirmed it’s only a major sprain 🙌🏻
