🚨 : Cleo & Piper’s Close Call 🚨
Recently, sisters Cleo (the black and white cat) and Piper (the Tabby) found themselves in a dangerous situation after their owners discovered an empty bottle of their dog’s chewable on the floor. The 15 remaining tablets were gone. While safe for dogs when prescribed, Apoquel can cause serious, and even fatal, kidney failure in cats.
Both cats were hospitalized right away at . Thankfully, Piper responded quickly to treatment and never developed kidney value elevation and was able to go home within 48 hours. However, Cleo’s baseline kidney values were elevated, so she required 72 hours of hospitalization with IV fluids and a urinary catheter for close monitoring. Thankfully, her values began to stabilize with treatment, so she was allowed to go home with continued care.
Today, both Cleo and Piper are thriving at home, and Cleo’s most recent recheck showed her kidney values are beginning to normalize! 👏
