We’re so VERY GRATEFUL to all the wonderful people that open up their heart and homes to a dog in need. One such adopter did so for one of our long timer senior girls named Elsie and she is doing AMAZING. Some dogs just take a little longer to find the right home for but boy it’s absolutely mind blowing what the right home full of understanding, love and compassion can do! So very happy for you Elsie. We never stopped believing in you💜

Our adorable boy Boudreaux has found his fur-ever home! It is next to impossible not to fall in love with those sweet beautiful eyes!!! His new family absolutely adores him and he has an awesome sister he gets to play with all the time! Happy Tails sweet boy!!!

Happy Saturday to all! Especially to our beautiful boy Silver and his new family! Silver, our year old 140 pound baby, was neglected and abandoned as a young pup. When he was found, he was being bullied by a stray pack of dogs, where he did his best to fend for himself. Last Saturday, Silver’s life turned around and his dreams came true! He has been adopted into an amazing home (who happen to very experienced Dane owners), and has settled right in. He is an absolute doll, leaning into his new parents and wanting to be near them all the time. The feeling is quite mutual, as they are equally smitten with this gorgeous boy! Happy Tails to all! ❤️

Good morning! Everyone meet Nacho (formerly Scotty) and Rosie (formerly Queenie)! These two gorgeous pups became super close friends while under our care. In May, we were thrilled when we found a foster Mom to take them both in together. Our excitement quickly turned to pure joy when she decided within 48 hours they would stay with her forever!! They immediately made friends with the other pup in the home (who had just recently lost her pal) and it was love at first sight for all! They fit in with ease, and it quickly became apparent it was meant to be! Happy Tails to all!! ❤️

Happy Saturday to all!!! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend with their furry loved ones. Below is Mozzy (formerly Oscar) who was adopted on 5/10. Poor little guy had a rough start in life when we came upon him, but he is thriving now. He is loving his life with his brother Pippin and the two have become quite close. They love going on walks together. Mozzy is a love bug, who does enjoy getting into mischief from time to time but couldn't have found a better family. They adore him and he is now an integral part of their life, as they are his. ❤️❤️

We hope everyone is doing well! We know it’s been a bit since we last posted! Firstly, we’d like to say a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our adoption coordinator Melody today! Anyone that has adopted from us knows Melody, the great work she does and how much she cares about the dogs and the families she matches them with. We are beyond grateful for you, Melody! Happy Birthday - may today and your upcoming year bring you much happiness! xoxo

SDF is as busy as ever continuing to rescue and providing much needed care to the precious pups we’re fortunate enough to be able to help. Timmy, Tessie, Freddy and Lobo are four pups that were adopted on the same day earlier this year. Their sad, homeless days of abandonment are behind them and now they are treasured members of loving families. Here they are photographed when they were adopted earlier this year. They've come a long way from when they were rescued. Happy Tails little loves, we’re so happy for you!

Today’s post is a call out to our wonderful SDF community and beyond. We’ve got 3 female dogs at our rescue that have been waiting and waiting. And waiting. Marissa, Sylvie & Reesie. Marissa (the tan one) is Reesie & Sylvie’s mom. They’ve been with us since Marissa gave birth. All 11 of Reesie & Sylvie’s littermates have been adopted but these two beauties and mom remain. They will be 2 years old this upcoming July 4th (Mom Marissa is estimated to be around 4 years old) Reesie & Sylvie have loving, fun, affectionate, outgoing, playful, tail-wagging personalities who are just yearning for human cuddles and attention. They literally hug you - that's how loving they are. Marissa is more laid back, prefers to be the only animal, but still sweet and affectionate, and like her kids, yearns for that close relationship with a human. Are you able to foster? Might you be interested in adopting? Or can you help by simply spreading the word? We can tell you that each litter mate that has been placed is an amazing, happy dog, with bright, beautiful, loving and playful personalities that have showered their adoptive homes with joy and light. We’re hoping that these beauties won’t have to wait much longer before they, too, can experience the magic of being a loved member of a family who adores them. The pictures don’t do them justice – they’re difficult to photograph with their excited, wiggly bodies 😊. Mooch, who's been quite busy celebrating the holidays with his Mama this year, wishes everyone a happy day today! He wanted to show off some of his latest photos, he's very proud of them and hopes they bring a smile to everyone's face. Mooch was an SDF rescue dog who was adopted to an incredibly loving home about a year and a half ago and has been counting his blessings every day since, and so have we. We can't imagine him being more loved. So happy for you, Mooch, and these pictures have certainly brought a smile to our faces! 🥰

This gorgeous girl, Sheba, a 90 lb Great Pyrenees, lived an isolated, loveless life on a farm until she gave birth to a litter and was no longer wanted. Not only a new Mama but also heartworm positive, we were happy to be able to step in and give her a chance to heal and know real love and security. She was treated successfully for heartworm while under our care and this February was placed into a loving home where she was loved immediately and is considered a treasured member of the family. Sheba is an absolute love through and through. She’s soulfully expressive in the way she looks at you and leans in close to give hugs. With her new dad she likes to banter and play bow showing her playful, happy side. We are grateful every day for all our incredible adopters such as Sheba’s parents, who are part of the team in helping us do what we do – thank you. Wishing Sheba and her new family continued love and happiness. ❤️

Today’s happy update is Percy! Percy, now lovingly known as Buddy – because that’s exactly what he's proven to be to his new parents - the perfect little pal - was rescued from the same hoarding situation as Poppy & Penelope. He was adopted in January and his adoptive parents are so in love with him. They’ve said he is so alert and smart, playful and cuddly, does all his potty business outside and loves to play fetch. In their words they feel they “hit the lottery” with him. They couldn’t be happier with him and we couldn’t be happier for Buddy and his new family. Congratulations, sweet boy, on your new beginning! ❤️

Adopted back in January, sweet bonded pair Poppy & Penelope were rescued from a hoarding situation and are now living their best life together in their new adoptive home. They have been lovingly renamed Cinnamon & Sugar and their adoptive Mom says they have made huge strides in learning to trust and socialize with others while overall just feeling more secure and comfortable as they settle into a routine. When not beside Mom's side or curled up together, Cinnamon's favorite spot is in front of the window where she watches the goings-on of the neighborhood and Sugar's favorite spot is in her fluffy, cozy bed. These girls are precious and it just warms our hearts knowing they are in a great home being doted on and receiving the love they so deserve.💜

Greetings SDF Family & Friends! We hope you are all doing well and enjoying the magnificent scents and sounds of Spring!
