Is your pet showing signs of vision trouble?
Here are a few eye conditions we see often—and what to watch for:

1. Cataracts – Cloudy or bluish eyes? Cataracts can blur vision and may lead to blindness if left untreated.

2. Glaucoma – This one’s serious. It causes pain and pressure behind the eyes. Look for redness, swelling, or a sudden change in vision.

3. Dry Eye (KCS) – If your pet’s eyes look goopy or irritated all the time, it might be more than allergies.

4. Corneal Ulcers – Squinting, pawing at the face, or light sensitivity? These can be painful and need quick care.

Your pet can’t tell you what’s wrong—but their eyes can. Call your primary vet if you suspect something is wrong before it’s too late!

Bean visited us the other day for an initial cataract exam! Here’s how you can spot cataracts in your pet: look for a cloudy, bluish-white haze in their eyes, squinting, redness, or reluctance to jump/climb. Early detection matters! Book a check-up with your primary vet if you suspect they may have cataracts and if they do, ask for a referral to Dr. Jurk so she can help your pet!
