So.... I need a break (maybe temporary, maybe permanent) from FB. I'm leaving this up for a few days before I go.

It's not just the ads I was complaining about in my previous post. It's the addictive, destructive nature of this and all soc med.

It's the constant spying on us by ALL big tech; trying to fit us into the neat little algorithm package - reducing us to nothing but consumers - at least that's what they hope, because it profits them.

In all honesty, the number of studies showing how incredibly destructive to our psyches all soc med is don't even matter. What matters is I've read the studies, AND I am experiencing the addiction and destruction and utter waste of time.

Does it connect me to many people I would never know without it? Yes.

Will I miss seeing friends' updates (especially my ever-so-dear puppy families)? Yes.

But there many, many other ways to contact me (and those you love) than this atrocious platform.

I will keep messenger around for a while, but may eventually move away from there, as well.
