Can you guess what makes me unusual?
Happy Friday! Cheddar is having an extended stay at chez Danada. She was initially a bit timid and hiding from us, but boy has she blossomed! Now her little motor just doesn’t stop. Not only is she cute, BUT there’s also something that’s unusual about this girl. Can you guess what is??? 🤔

Maggie's Fear Free Veterinary Care
Meet Maggie, a 15-week-old Vizsla. She has been coming in for regular ‘happy visits’ to learn that what happens at the vet can actually be fun! In fact, she has yet to even realize that we have given her several shots over the past few weeks because she gets delicious stuff while they happen! 🎉 Sound on!
Watch until the end for Mom’s really wonderful bonus! 🥰

Goose is a 4-year-old English Setter that recently posed for a photo shoot while getting his vaccines updated. We’re pretty sure we know what was going through Goose’s head… 😂

Happy Friday! Can any new puppy owners relate to this?
Norm is an 18-week-old German Wirehaired Pointer that was having way too much fun to stop and piddle for his freezing mom. 🥶😆
In all seriousness, potty training a pup can sometimes be a challenge, but it is usually a little more difficult in the winter. Even though it’s cold, it’s important to go outside with your puppy to when you are potty training so you can reward your pup as soon as he or she eliminates. If you give them something yummy when they come back in the house, you re rewarding coming back in the house rather than eliminating outside. You also want to prevent them from putting anything dangerous into their mouth and in some areas it’s important to ensure their safety from coyotes.
Stay warm out there 🧤🧣❄️ and keep your pets safe!
High five’s all around! 🙌
Mac needed his annual heartworm test, but he let us know that he thinks people with needles 💉 are very scary. 😱
So, we rescheduled his test for a later date, and with the combination of happy visits, some trials to find the right pre-visit medications, gentle handling and really delicious treats, Mac didn’t even realize he voluntarily ‘donated’ his blood this week! He joined in on the celebration by offering his own high fives (even if he didn’t realize what exactly we were all so happy about 😆)
We are so proud of him!

Happy Friday! 🎉
Our weather is going to be beautiful! ☀️We hope you spend your weekend doing something you enjoy as much as our patient, Freki, enjoys tennis balls. 😆💪

We take pride in doing everything we can to keep our boarders happy! Nigel has been entertaining us all week...probably even more than we have been entertaining him. He’s a stitch! 😅

Tick Tuesday! 🤢
Ticks are an unfortunate reality in Illinois, with a variety of species found in every county throughout the state. Per the DCFP, the American dog tick (sometimes called the wood tick) is one of the most common species throughout Illinois and found in a variety of habitats, including trail edges, grassy fields, and woodland borders. In our part of the state, one of the most abundant species and the tick we’re most concerned with is the black-legged tick (sometimes called the deer tick.) This species lives in woodlands and is of great concern because it carries Lyme disease.
These lively little suckers 👿 all came off one dog (and a few more stragglers were found after the pictures.) It takes 24-48 hours before an attached tick can transmit disease. Thankfully, they were found early.
Call us to speak with one of our veterinarians about the different options we have available to help protect your pet from all sorts of parasites.
