To rescue bully breeds in need and from high kill shelters while cultivating positive, collaborative foster relationships to ensure the ultimate adoptive success of the dogs into loving permanent homes. To wisely steward our available resources, enabling us to provide appropriate support and assistance to address the needs of the animals to whom we have made the commitment of rescue.

Actually, let’s start with you…
You love big mutts and you cannot lie and bully breeds have caught your eye. You know “pitties” and bully breed dogs have been dealing with a lot of crap in recent years, not unlike maligned breeds of decades past. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans have all spent time in the ‘bad dog’ seat, and now blocky headed dogs are having their turn. From backyard breeding, to mistreatment to rampant misinformation about their essential nature, you get that pitties need our help, our educated minds and our open hearts and homes and you want to do your part to give a pup in need a paw up. If you Google ‘pit bull rescue in Chicago’ about 523,000 results will show up. Kinda makes it a little hard to know where to go and how to choose a rescue group that you can trust and rely on, doesn’t it? That is why we are so glad you are here! Our main goal, in addition to saving the lives of bullies in need is to support YOU in being the most educated, prepared, savvy pit bull companion you can be, whether you choose to foster or to adopt. We are a small rescue, committed to leading with our heads rather than our hearts, to help quality dogs find quality homes. We’ve been involved in rescue a long time and we have seen what happens to groups who try to save as many urgent dogs as they can as fast as they can. That may be well-intended (big hearts are a good thing!) but urgency-led rescues aren’t good for the people involved and they aren’t good for the dogs who can end up being failed by the very system that was trying to save them. We are not that rescue. We work closely with area shelters to get as much information as we can about the dogs we take in so we can be as prepared as possible to provide for their needs as we place them in well-matched foster homes. If you would like to join our team of fosters, expect us to have a close ongoing relationship with you as you help your pup get ready for their permanent home. If you are looking to adopt, expect us to get to know you, too, so we can help you find the dog that will thrive best in your home situation. Like big dogs in general, pit bull type dogs tend to have big personalities and are an athletic bunch (they even power nap). There’s a new kid in town.

Please welcome Gravy ❤️

➡️He is 2 years old
➡️Very shy and unsure.
➡️His head is HUGE and glorious.
➡️Gravy is a lowrider.
➡️He’s 50lbs but should be more like 55-60lbs.
➡️My best guess is that he is an Olde English Bulldogge.

He came in as a stray to DuPage County Animal Services with a female - the female has since been adopted through DCAS.

They think they were using them for breeding. He is definitely a show stopper. One of those dogs where everyone on the street stops and asks you about your dog.

He did have lower lid entropion surgery that he is recovering from. That's where the eyelashes are turning into the eyeball causing irritation.

He’s been so good but so unsure about everything. He was so scared he wouldn’t walk in the shelter.

But now he's a CTP dog. And it's all good things from here.

Please welcome the Stately Bunch to CTP!

These adorable babes were found abandoned by the side of the road. The Good Samaritan worked hard to round them up and put them in a container for safety before bringing them to DuPage County Animal Services.

With the shelter at capacity, we worked quickly to find fosters. Now California, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Virginia are resting comfortably in our foster homes!

Please welcome Lorenza!

Since 2023 Lorenza has come into DuPage County Animal Services a few times as a stray until one day her owner did not reclaim her. She was then adopted out by DCAS at the end of 2024 and recently returned to DCAS because she did not get along with their cat, and the husband “didn't want a dog to begin with”.

This girl is only 2ish years old and has had a rollercoaster of a life filled with instability. Yet through it all she remains fun loving and sweet.

Our soft spot for small fluffenutters came out when we learned of this girls past. We knew we needed to help her get the forever home she deserved.
