We also spayed and neutered almost 4 dozen cats yesterday.❤️🐈‍⬛

We hope we NEVER have to say "NO" to an injured stray cat.
This kitty has been roaming a neighborhood for months, with a horrific eye injury, and a tail injury.

A kind lady has been trying to trap him; she’s been feeding him and we had loaned her a trap. Thankfully, this week, he was finally captured and brought to Clinic-yesterday! Our vet removed the eye and the tail. He’s on pain meds and stitched up. He’ll return in two weeks to get his stitches out. The kind lady has him enclosed on her porch and will not be releasing him back out. ❤️
Of course we also neutered and vaccinated him, along with a flea/worm treatment, all of this thanks to our Guardian Angel For Stray Cats Fund, which was established several years ago by the family of Delma Schank, who loved animals.
However, the Guardian Angel Funds are dangerously low! We have had a lot of vet and clinic expenses recently in trying to save lives that are at risk. Please consider a contribution to help us continue our good work; it will be GREATLY appreciated, and will help many furry friends who have no one to turn to but us!

Busy day coming up!🐾♥️🐾

4th UPDATE: (🐈‍⬛ Edit: It looks like we’ve made arrangements for every cat in need…thanks everyone!)
We are still housing these cats. Because of the extreme cold polar winter we are experiencing, we feel the temperatures are too severe to put them back. The very feral ones WILL be going back. They have dedicated feeders who monitor them.
💥We do have a few young cats in this group, six months old or so, that need homes.💥
🐾Anyone who can adopt one will get a $500 stipend (per cat) for cat food and supplies, thanks to a very generous donation!🐾

UPDATE: we ended up with 16 and ran out of traps. Will be setting more traps in the morning.

Kathy and Pam have spent the entire New Year’s Day trapping cats! It’s a colony behind a factory in Downtown Wheeling WV, where it was believed there were 12 cats. As you can see, there’s 13 trapped already, and Kathy will soon be on her way to clinic with #14. It’s 7 PM and we’ve still got traps set in case there’s more! We’ll monitor them until it gets too late then try again tomorrow…no cats will be left behind!🙂
Tomorrow, Dr Kylie will spay/neuter every one of them and they’ll be vaccinated and flea treated, too!♥️
Projects like this cost us anywhere from $1500-$3000, depending on if they are males or females. If you can donate to help, it will be put to good use for this good cause!

Start the New Year off right by vaccinating your pet! We normally close the clinic during winter months but the weather looks delightful so we’re not taking a winter break just yet! We’ve got space to neuter a few male cats that day, too.

Two stray kittens came into clinic yesterday, scared and sick. Upper respiratory infections and the black-and-white one also had a painful ruptured eye that had to be removed.💔 They are now safe in foster care thanks to our “Delma Shank Guardian Angel for Stray Cats & Kittens” Program. Hope and Lani will give them lots of TLC! And thankfully, they’re warm and dry, safe inside, eating nutritious food, and sleeping in soft beds. They’ll need homes after they’ve had time to recover.❤️

Webark Estates volunteers are on hand at every clinic day to assure things run smoothly.🙂
All surgery patients receive an exam, spay/neuter, nail trim, flea treatment if needed, FVRCP vaccine, Rabies vaccine, and after surgery they get a long-lasting pain shot to keep them comfortable at home. Dissolvable stitches are used; no need to come back for stitch removal! In addition, we provide a soft cone for female cats to prevent them from licking their stitches. Text 304-639-4300 to schedule.
