WAGS is thrilled to finally introduce our biggest pups yet: Duck & Goose! 🦆🦢 These 2 boys are about 1 1/2 years old, neutered, and current on vaccinations. Goose (the full white floof), is a Great Pyrenees, and Duck (the one with brown markings) is probably a Pyrenees mix of some sort. (Maybe some other large guardian breed.) Both of these dogs are over 100lbs and fully grown. Because they are very bonded, we will only adopt them out together.
Duck & Goose were found as strays together and never claimed. They have been with us for about 6 months already, because Goose was positive for heartworm. He was successfully treated by Doc & cared for by Kennel Staff, made a full recovery, then was finally neutered.
Now, both of "the boys" are ready to find their forever home together. Both are friendly, gentle giants that love cold weather & snow🌨, keeping an eye on everyone in the boarding kennels, and a good (slow-motion) romp outside. They do play and wrestle with each other. Both boys know "Sit", enjoy certain treats, and are very intelligent.
Duck: Duck is more dog-oriented, social with other dogs, and always checks in on other boarding canines. He warms up to people quickly, especially women, but is just initially a little more aloof, as a guardian breed should be. He LOVES other dogs, and knows how to moderate his play with much smaller pups. Duck also enjoys a good (tiny) squeaky ball & love from his favorite people.
Goose: Goose is more people-oriented, and loves everyone- usually including strangers. He is the most likely to jump up and put his paws on your shoulders or do the "Pyrenees Punch", although both boys do this. Goose is also quicker to alert bark for noises off in the distance. He's a lovebug though, and will happily roll over for bellyrubs, and will allow you to brush him.
These boys will need room to run, to work on basic obedience and leash walking, and possibly potty-training, although they usually keep their kennels clean. They are not super slobbery, but are messy eaters & drinkers. Goose, who sheds a lot, will need daily brushing and probably grooming a couple times per year, while Duck is able to get by with less frequent brushing and a bath once in a while.
Everyone in the hospital has fallen in love 💘 with these two goofballs, and we think they're a really special pair. If you think you have a great home for these fowl friends, call Wheeling Animal Hospital and Pet Resort today at (847) 520-7387 to set up a meet-and-greet!
