Really liking working with Jamey Kirschel and her fabulous princess Sheltie Islay - they are really coming along nicely! She’s a saucy one, keeping an eye on the lagging goat and giving him some added incentive to get moving 😁

For those who would like to enter or just watch, Snowy Butte ASC has an ASCA trial coming up with entries still available. June 6-7 are for farm trials, a little harder for spectators to watch, and June 8-9 are three arena trials. Farm trials are Geese, Cattle, Mixed and Sheep. Arena trials are cattle, sheep and geese. I’m open to working with owners who want to embark on the experience of herding with their doggos, be it for competing or doing it for fun, as well as people who want to work their dogs in practical applications.

This game isn’t for everyone- it takes the right combination of dog matched to owner, instinct, biddability of the dog, flexibility, time and determination. This is not easy and won’t be mastered in short order! It’s like emersion learning a foreign language while training your dog in that foreign language and also there’s the third element of livestock in the mix that have their own minds about things!

Not all teams progress for whatever reason, but it is always a joy for me to have a team progress, whatever the starting point. I posted on this page while in California when I felt a team or dog I was training was coming along nicely.

Now I’m at it in southern Oregon!

Having moved to southern Oregon over a year ago, I stopped posting here since I wasn’t training at Bear View Ranch. However, I will be going down to Bear View to do lessons Nov. 12-14! Also, I have partnered up with Marilyn Hahn to train at her facility in Eagle Point, OR!
