In Good Faith Dog Training

In Good Faith Dog Training Leadership comes from patience and practice. Train to lead, and your dog will thank you everyday. Struggling with pulling? Jumping? Nipping? Begging? Fleeing?

I use training to help you communicate with your dog to help reach a more balanced and fulfilling life together. Or just all around ignoring behaviors? Any problem. Any dog. Let me help you renew your relationship with your best fur-riend. Amanda Dunmore

Meet my new long-term foster, Oscar Mayer.

We have spent about a week together working on some basic training. He's made a lot of progress in the past week. He had a busy weekend (something I usually wait for), but I wanted to challenge his ability to focus and regulate his energy. I am very proud of his growth. I am hopeful for his continued success in this program.

4๏ธโƒฃReminders for your pet's Fourth of July...

For humans, it's a fun time for BBQ's, friends, and fireworks. But this time of year can be very stressful for dogs. With all the outside activity, it's important to be mindful of our dogs during this time.

โ€ผMore pets gets lost on the 4th than on any other day of the year..like 30%-60% more!โ€ผ

Spent time learning from Val at New Paltz Dog Training & Canine Adventures the other weekend. Got another dose of Relationship Based Behavior Modification course 1. Nelson's course is a remarkable reminder to listen to the dog in front of you rather than your expectations.

I had a very different experience this time because I'm a very different person from 10 years ago. Thanks to Val for the learning and opportunity.

Meet Poseidon! He's adoptable through South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter .

Poseidon is a 4-year-old Rottweiler who has a big name for a gentle giant. He has been calm, well mannered, and very aware of his size. True to his rottweiler roots, he is an active observer. He checks out new things with stoicism and a healthy but of reservation. Then he's all in.

Poseidon likes to play and bounce outside, but would rather give you cuddles and receive butt-scratches. He walks well on a leash. This guy is a treasure. I can't wait to see how he comes into himself this week.

I am not interested in getting a dog. Thank you.

Adoptable Durk is a long time resident at South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter.

I spent some time with him last month working on understanding leash manners, offering attention, and keeping all fours on the floor.

He was surprisingly polite for a big guy. He's a staff and volunteer favorite. Described as "A LOVER! He is a big boi but very aware of his size & gentle as can be." You catch a glimpse of that in the video as he comes up for affection. He is a quick learner, knows how to sit, and will walk nicely with you. He's been pretty great about the little people petting him. Good with other dogs.

Durk could really use a place. Reach out to adopt or foster ๐Ÿ’™

Spent a little time at South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter last weekend.

This little cutie is Pirate Pete. Pete is a pint-sized ball of fun. Being in the shelter, it's hard to get good leash manners, so we worked on getting him to offer me his attention.

I reward him for simply giving me his attention, even if for a second. Because he quickly got that, I started waiting for him to offer a sit and his attention. With that, I was able to start luring him to walk on my side and finally take a few steps together. Pete was very quick to pick it up and was happy to engage in whatever game I'd play with him.

Pirate Pete would be a great dog to help get you outside and exploring.

Got to explore with little Charles, a loving, shy guy who was very affectionate and adventurous out on the trails. He enjoyed exploring the water line and following his nose. When he met new people, he was gentle and sniffed them rather than jumping up on people.

Likes and dislikes: Charles enjoyed getting in a nice run on leash and while running, would rather you take the lead. While sniffing around, he kept checking in to see if it was right. He loves treats and offers a sit. In the car, he is a little worried, but lays down and settles. He was very cuddly. When I was petting him after our walk he even slipped his paw into my hand ๐Ÿฅน

While on the walk, he was soft bodied around similar size dogs and even a little flirty with Cabernet, a female dog, when walking by. His body language looked like, with the right dog, he may be dog friendly.

Such a great adventure buddy! Some one will be lucky to have him along their side

Charles is available for foster or adoption through South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter

UPDATE: I'm happy to report that Snooty, aka Snoop, found a home. ๐Ÿ  He went to foster shortly after I brought him back. In an almost hail mary fashion! He was a perfect fit for another turkey tester, so they came in to foster him. After a few weeks, they decided he was a good fit for their family. He has a little girl to be his BFF. I'm elated to share this with, yall. We helped make this an option for him. Thank you for sharing and liking and commenting. This is the value of doing the hard thing.

Thanks to South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter for suggesting him for me. Jess and Chrisitian saw something in him. Something I would have looked over without their help. My family trusted me to guide him to make good choices with their safety and dog. My friends trust my read of dogs with their children. And with that, we saw his true potential. Happy holidays, Snoop. And may yall have a great day driven by this wonderful news!

Someone is fostering Snoop! Guys I'm so elated that he is out of the fire for a but.
