🐾🎉 The Moment We’ve All Been Waiting For! 🎉🐾

After over a year of waiting, we can finally say it—Toady Bear has found his forever home! ❤️🏡

Today, this amazing family came in to meet him, and it was an instant, perfect match. Toady Bear is finally home, and we couldn't be happier. There were tears of joy all around as we said goodbye, knowing he’s going exactly where he belongs.

Thank you to everyone who shared his story, cheered him on, and never gave up hope. Happy tails, Toady Bear! 🐶💙✨

🚨 Coyote Awareness & Safety Tips 🚨

We’ve received several reports of coyote sightings in the area recently, and while this is completely normal, we want to share some important safety tips and information with you!

🌿 Why Are We Seeing More Coyotes?
This time of year marks breeding season for coyotes, which means they are more active as they search for mates and establish dens. You may notice them out during daylight hours more frequently, but this does not always mean they are sick or aggressive—just that they are following their natural instincts.

🐾 Coyotes & Human Safety:
Coyotes are typically shy and avoid human interaction, but it’s always good to know how to respond if you see one:
✔️ Never feed coyotes – Feeding encourages them to lose their natural fear of humans.
✔️ Keep pets safe – Always supervise small pets outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk. Do not leave pets unattended outside, especially small dogs and cats, as they can be vulnerable to coyotes.
✔️ Secure trash & food sources – Make sure garbage is properly sealed, and avoid leaving pet food outside.
✔️ Leash your pets on walks – When walking your dog, always keep them on a leash and close to you to reduce the risk of encounters with coyotes.

🚶‍♂️ What To Do If You Encounter a Coyote:
If you come across a coyote, remember these steps:
⚠️ Stay calm – Do not run; this could trigger a chase instinct.
⚠️ Make yourself big & loud – Stand tall, wave your arms, and yell in a firm voice.
⚠️ Slowly back away – Give the coyote space to retreat.
⚠️ Use deterrents – If necessary, throw small objects near (not at) the coyote to encourage it to leave.

🌎 Living With Wildlife
Coyotes play a crucial role in our ecosystem by keeping rodent populations in check. Seeing them is a reminder that we share our environment with wildlife. By taking simple precautions, we can coexist safely.

If you have any concerns about a coyote’s behavior or health, feel free to reach out to us: 817-246-1043. Stay safe and stay aware! 🐺✨

🐢 Happy Endings! 🐢

Today, our parks department reached out after receiving a call from a citizen who found a Sulcata tortoise stuck behind a fence at a construction site. Officer Sarah Getz responded and, without hesitation, crawled under the fence through a stream to free the stranded tortoise—then carried this heavy girl back under with her!

Back at the shelter, we checked our reports and discovered that someone had reported their Sulcata missing over a month ago! The owners were able to identify their beloved pet by her unique features and were absolutely overjoyed to finally have her back home.

These are the moments that make everything so worth it! 💛 Welcome home, sweet tortoise!

💔 One Year and Still Waiting… 💔

Toady Bear has spent over a year at the shelter, watching other dogs find their families while he waits. And waits. And waits. Since his last post on the 15th, not a single person has come to meet him. He doesn’t understand why.

He’s fully vetted, potty trained, and knows his basic commands. He’s incredibly smart and eager to keep learning. He just wants a chance. A chance to love. A chance to belong.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Toady Bear is still hoping—hoping that someone will see him, choose him, and finally take him home. He does need to be the only dog in the house, but he promises to give you all the love you could ever need!!

Please don’t let him keep waiting. If you can’t adopt, please share to help him find his person. His heart can’t take another Valentine’s Day alone. 💔🐾
