Meet Rose, our beautiful 9-year-old Welsh Cob cross. She is starting her 90-day trial at Starbrite, and we couldn't be more excited! Rose loves taking things slow and enjoys every moment of being pampered and loved. We're looking forward to getting to know her better over the next few months. 🌟

Little Gunner has officially joined the Starbrite team! His small size and mighty personality combine to make him a great fit in our herd. He loves to be in lessons in our Horses for Heroes program and is a favorite of many of our Veteran's children. Little Gunner's pint size makes him the perfect candidate for many of our therapeutic riders that require extra assistance for sidewalkers. Celebrating his debut with some National Donut Day sweetness! 🍩🎉

Amy's incredible dedication to our therapeutic lessons and barn chores has left a lasting impact on our community and the lives of our riders. Although she has moved and is no longer with us, she will be deeply missed by our staff, riders, and our herd. Amy, your compassion and commitment have truly made a difference. We will miss you! 💖👏

Please help us welcome Starbrite Therapeutic Equestrian Center to the Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce.
Starbrite is a non-profit organization with a Christ-centered mission that harnesses the therapeutic potential of horses to bring hope and healing to children, adults, and veterans with a range of needs. They currently have two programs, both offering transformative experiences beyond the reach of traditional therapies.
Horses for Heroes is a veteran and first responder therapeutic horsemanship program. A veteran serves as the program director and instructor.
Therapeutic Riding (TR) Program - a program designated for children and adults with moderate to severe physical, cognitive, mental, social, emotional, and developmental disabilities.

🐴 Exciting news! Lucy is headed to Maine for the summer to escape the Texas heat and enjoy some cool adventures. Lucy suffers from a condition called Anhidrosis, which means she has trouble sweating on her own. She also has allergies to insect bites (including gnats and barn flies) which causes her to itch uncontrollably. In the East Texas summer heat and humidity, medications and supplements are not enough to keep her comfortable. The cooler weather that Maine has to offer should keep Lucy comfortable and happy so that she can return to Starbrite and her riders this Fall. 🌟 Meet Cricket, the newest star at Starbrite! 🌟

We are thrilled to welcome this beautiful 16-year-old Canadian Appaloosa to our herd. Cricket is starting her 90-day trial period with us, and we can already tell she's a true gem. Fun fact: she has a sweet tooth for cookies but isn't a fan of carrots or apples.

⭐️ Her favorite thing about her job: “Serving our community with disabilities and Veterans by providing help and joy. Working with our incredibly talented team daily and riding horses of course!"

⭐️What she does at Starbrite: “I am the Program and Site Director/Veteran Instructor"

⭐️How she got started at Starbrite: “I was a Veteran rider, then volunteered, then was hired to current position."

⭐️Most rewarding thing about her job: “Watching the riders grow and change physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Watching horses be the vessels that Jesus uses to change lives!!"

Our April volunteer of the month is Chester!💫

If you've ever driven by Starbrite and thought "their landscaping looks nice", that would be because of Chester! Chester started volunteering at Starbrite in March of this year and now volunteers multiple days a week, every week. He is our weed-whacker extraordinaire who always brings a smile to other volunteers, the staff, and our horses absolutely love him!

We may not have your "traditional" teacher here at Starbrite, but boy are they special! We are blessed here at Starbrite to have an amazing group of instructors who shower their riders with an abundance of knowledge, love, and of course Jesus!

Did you know, East Texas has the 2nd largest population of Veterans in Texas. Many non-profits, veteran organizations, and the community as a whole are working together to support this influx, but the military leaves a lifetime of scars. These men and women are hungry for healing and require specialized resources.

What makes Starbrite different, Jesus! The staff, including the horses are the vessels but a soul wound requires a soul healer. We offer a unique program that tailors the lessons to the individual's needs and it's WORKING.
