Kona was a rehab patient in 2021 following CCL surgery and has returned after tearing his other CCL (Cranial Cruciate Ligament).
Did you know that once one CCL tears, there’s a 50% chance the other will tear too? Whether surgery is pursued or not, rehab plays a crucial role in relieving pain, strengthening muscles, improving limb awareness, and more!

On Tuesday, we had three post-surgery patients begin their rehab journey!
🌟Murphy (FHO), Benji, and R***r (lateral sutures)
Each of these patients began rehab two weeks post-op, which is the ideal time frame to start rehab after most surgeries.

Starting rehab at this stage can significantly improve the recovery process and here’s why:

🐾Promotes healing by reducing pain and inflammation through therapeutic pain modalities like laser and PEMF therapy.

🐾Improves joint mobility by preventing stiffness and improving flexibility through low-impact exercises like the underwater treadmill.

🐾Slows down the progression of osteoarthritis and minimizes the formation of excessive scar tissue.

🐾Restores function at a faster rate to prevent muscle atrophy through land exercises and our home exercise plans.

🐾Most importantly, it gets your pet back to doing what they love faster!

🌟Meet Winston🌟 Winston had a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) at Indy Animal Surgery Center in August and came to see us a few weeks later to help with pain relief, muscle atrophy, and gait retraining. Winston was such a fun boy to work with and we are so proud of the progress he made in order to get back to his normal puppy life!

🌟THIS IS A TRANSFORMATION YOU DO NOT WANT TO SCROLL PAST🌟

Barry’s owners came to us in hopes we could help with weight loss and orthopedic pain. He has severe bilateral hip dysplasia and suspected CCL degeneration.
Barry weighed 81lbs at his rehab consult and today he weighs 69lbs!!!! He is 12lbs down and acting like a completely different dog!! Barry still has some weight to lose but we are so proud of him so far💪
What has made Barry’s transformation so successful??

🌟Meet Zora🌟
Zora came to IPC to continue rehab after a hemilaminectomy surgery back in September. Our main focus was continued muscle building and gait training! Her owners were very dedicated to working on the home exercise plan we provided which helped her improve even more throughout the rehab process! We are so proud of Zora💪🐾

You may have seen Audrey on our page before because she’s been an IPC patient for almost THREE years!!😺 Her owners came to us in hopes rehab would help with abdominal pain from megacolon, cystitis flare ups, and arthritis. Motivating cats to exercise can be challenging at times but as long as churu is involved, she’s all for it😹 Her rehab plan includes laser and PEMF therapy, massage and heat packing, land exercises, and treadmill walking!
