2 pups meet at the Behavior & Enrichment Center...and have a great time! Lizzy (6 mos old Vizla) met Pandora (almost 6 mos old Great Dane) for training. After a few attention games, leash walking practice, and practicing observation it was time to PLAY! #lifewithpuppy #dogsdodoggiethings #puppyplay
Pandora Pup here, letting pups everywhere know that the Behavior & Enrichment Center's Fall 2024 Theme is ready for exploring! Straw bales for climbing, a maze for exploring, pumpkins for sniffing. Mmm....something seems to be missing. What? Where are the squeaky toys??? I chatted with management (mom), and she assured me that the squeaky toys would be out in a day or two. Not to worry, furry friends, I'll keep her on track. There will be squeaky toys, too! And....FLOATING pumpkins in the duck pond! It's a-mazing! Oh, it's not just for perfect pups like me, my older sister, Ursa, said it's really awesome, too. And she's OLD! Oops! Mom said to be nice. Ursa isn't OLD...just older! Ha!#lifewithpuppy #dogsdodoggiethings #dogenrichment #havefunwithyourdog #dog #doghalloween
Bobbing for pumpkins (and apples, too)? Yes!
Does your dog love to explore, sniff, or snuffle? Check out Scent City @ The Learning Dog Academy's Behavior & Enrichment Center.
Ursa says the snuffle tunnel is AWESOME!
Peanut butter bubbles? Sophia says, “YES!”

The bitey puppy! Bad? Nope...normal. Pandora is an average puppy. She does puppy things, like putting everying in her mouth and biting. I have options - I can get frustrated and upset OR I can acknowledge that this is what puppies do and give her better things to put into her mouth instead of me. Providing puppies with many opportunities to use their mouth - tasting, chewing, carrying - actually decreases bitiness. When Pandora gets too bitey it's my cue that she's too stimulated or too tired and needs a puppy nap. Bitey puppies are normal. Prevent undesirable biting by giving your puppy LOTS of things to put in their mouth. (HINT: Take time to discover what textures and materials your puppy wants to bite and give them safe options that are similar in texture and hardness.) #biteypuppy #lifewithpuppy
Annie and Shannon had a great time participating in this. year's Olympic games. It's a delight watching them work together as a team. Although she's a great team sport player, Annie always adds her own twist...check out her creative twist on the event.
Summer Beach Days at The Behavior & Enrichment Center. A little sand, a little water, and lots of fun! Ursa and Pandora had a great time exploring. The big idea this month is texture. Our dogs encounter many different textures during the day and throughout their life. Part of the socialization process for puppies and dogs who have experienced barren environments or sensory deprivation is interacting with different objects in a safe environment at their own pace. Dogs at every life stage benefit from exploration without being pressured.
