Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary GLRS provides a safe haven to abandoned, abused, and neglected domestic rabbits and others. Expect a response within 1-2 days.

If you are interested in adopting, please contact our adoption coordinator at [email protected]. Sanctuary work keeps us very busy, so we may not be able to respond right away. Visiting the Sanctuary: We welcome visitors and are very excited to share the wonders of the sanctuary, however, we are not open to the public on a daily basis. Tours are available by appointment only during the

spring, summer, and early fall. Please email us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a visit and have us confirm your visit. To help us continue providing a safe haven for the animals, we request a donation of $5.00 per person for tours of the sanctuary. To get involved in volunteering email [email protected]

🌾 $8 feeds rabbits hay for a day
🌾 $30 feeds pigs, rabbits and goats hay for approximately two days
🌾 $55 feeds rabbits hay for approximately a week
🌾 $100 provides our pigs, rabbits, and goats with hay for a week
🌾 $200 stocks hay for everyone for two weeks
🌾 $300+ makes a huge impact toward our seasonal hay bill

This pretty polka-dotted girl is still waiting for her forever home! 💙

Holly is a sweet, shy girl and will need a patient adopter who will give her the time and space to open up at her own pace. She loves her tunnel -- it’s her favorite place to hang out! Having safe places to hide will be important for Holly in her new home, but she's willing to be brave for treats! We promise she's worth your patience!

Cute as a button and as sweet as a chocolate chip -- Chip is still waiting for her forever home!💙

Chip arrived at the sanctuary after being found outside and badly in need of medical care. Our wonderful staff and vet team helped her get better, and after a few months recovering at the sanctuary, she's healthy and hoppy and ready to find her forever home! Like many bunnies, she's a little nervous about handling and will need a patient adopter who understands that she'll need a little extra time to feel safe. Once she feels comfortable though, she's a curious girl who enjoys binkies and burrowing in her hay. She loves her pellets and is so fun to watch!

You’re invited to a Vegan Thanksgiving Feast & Fundraiser on Sunday, November 16, hosted by VegMichigan and Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary!

Our friends at Vegano Italiano will be preparing a delicious vegan dinner with their famous "meatloaf" and all your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. A suggested donation of $10 supports both organizations, and full meal will be available for $20, with additional sides for purchase.

Throughout the event, we will be offering guided tours of the sanctuary, giving you the chance to meet the rescued rabbits, pigs, and goats and learn about us!

Donations and meal purchases can be made at the event or at the link below, but please RSVP in advance so we know to save you a seat.

Heron is ready for his forever home!

This sweet boy came to us in July 2024 as an owner surrender after an accidental litter that they were unable to care for due to illness. Heron is a sweet, easy going boy who enjoys hopping and snuggling. Like most bunnies, it takes him a while to warm up to new people and new places, but he's am curious and friendly, and his fur is oh-so-soft. He's doing great here at the sanctuary, but would love a home of his own!

Our next Bunny Spa(w) Day is coming up on Sunday, November 2!

Grooms entail nail trimming, brushing and de-shedding, fur trims on the rear if necessary to tidy sanitary areas, and fur cleaning/conditioning.

Suggested donation of $25 may be provided in cash at time of service, Venmo, or through a website donation. All attending rabbits must be vaccinated with RHDV-2 vaccine.

It's that time again... We need newspapers! 🗞

As you can see from Declan's wonderful modeling skills, we use newspapers to help line pens and litterboxes to control some of the mess the buns make. We're running low, but the rabbits don't stop!

Donations can be dropped off at the sanctuary any day between 9 AM - 3 PM, and can be left by the garage behind the farmhouse. Thank you!

Mochi arrived at GLRS pregnant, and although she was a wonderful mom to her babies, she's now spayed and single, and looking for a forever family of her own!

Mochi is a confident girl who loves to flop and chew on toys and boxes. Like many rabbits, she doesn't enjoy handling and likes to have her own space, but she's a funny and outgoing girl and a lot of fun to watch!

Today's the day! 🎃

Come enjoy this beautiful fall day at the sanctuary! We'll have activities for kids (12 and under get in free!), tours of the grounds, and all the animals for you to meet 🐷🐰🐐

Tickets are $23 in advance or $25 at entry and include vegan chili and butternut squash soup, a cup of cider, and a vegan cider mill donut. Additional donuts and drinks (alcoholic and NA) available for a donation!

💙 Introducing the GLRS Alumni Calendar! 💙

We're so excited to announce the creation of a GLRS Alumni Calendar, and we want your buns to be a part of it!

If you have a former GLRS bunny and would like them to be featured in one of our 12 monthly calendar spots, we will be accepting donations of $100 to reserve a month. This donation includes one free calendar, which can be picked up or mailed to you.

✨How It Works:✨
• Email [email protected] with your interest in participating and list the top three preferred months you would like for your bun(s) to be featured in.
• Liz will reply to confirm availability. Spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Once your spot is confirmed, Liz will provide donation instructions.
• After your donation is received, she’ll send details about submitting your photos and a short blurb to be included on your rabbit’s page.

✨Additional Info:✨
• One month per household. If you have multiple GLRS bunny alumni, we welcome pictures of all of them for your feature!
• Please wait to donate until your spot is confirmed by Liz.
• Calendars will be ready by the end of November, possibly sooner!
• Even if your bun isn't featured, calendars will be available for purchase so everyone can enjoy the charm of our GLRS alumni all year long.
