GLRS provides a safe haven to abandoned, abused, and neglected domestic rabbits and others. Expect a response within 1-2 days.

If you are interested in adopting, please contact our adoption coordinator at [email protected]. Sanctuary work keeps us very busy, so we may not be able to respond right away. Visiting the Sanctuary: We welcome visitors and are very excited to share the wonders of the sanctuary, however, we are not open to the public on a daily basis. Tours are available by appointment only during the

spring, summer, and early fall. Please email us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a visit and have us confirm your visit. To help us continue providing a safe haven for the animals, we request a donation of $5.00 per person for tours of the sanctuary. To get involved in volunteering email [email protected]

Whether you're a Red Pop or Rock & Rye person, this Faygo is just as sweet as his namesake and his adoption fee is 20% off during our Sun's Out Buns Out special! ☀️

Faygo came to us from a truly horrific hoarding case in Detroit. Despite his rocky start in life, Faygo is the sweetest, most loving boy, and SO handsome! (Have you seen this face? Eyelashes for days!!) He would rather snuggle than snack (although he does love cilantro!) and is often found following our staff and volunteers around, begging for pets and attention.

Faygo is great with kids, and he would love a home where he can be the center of attention. This sweet boy knew nothing but neglect before coming to the sanctuary, and we would all love to see him find the devoted, loving forever home he deserves! 💙

We have open tour hours THIS Sunday, July 13 from noon - 3 PM! These tours will be more focused on learning more about our adoption process for our Sun's Out Buns Out adoption special, so if you've been thinking about adopting now is the time to come out!

Meadow and Coriander found love at GLRS, and now it's time to find their forever home! 💙

Meadow and Coriander are our sanctuary’s favorite love story! Meadow has been with us since March 26, 2021. She has always been a reserved, dignified lady, but while in foster during our recent renovation, she met young Coriander, who was staying in the pen next door. For Meadow, it was love at first sight! She spent all of her time wooing her handsome young friend, and by the time the renovations were complete, these two were happily bonded and deeply in love. They are inseparable now, and we often find them snuggled together in their box, or gently grooming each other. Coriander is the more outgoing of the two, and he’s given Meadow new confidence. They’re a quiet, gentle, easy-going pair, who love nothing more than snuggling together and sharing salad. 🌿

We knew a dark colored, bigger pair would be even more challenging to adopt, but we never stand in the way of true love! We’re sure there’s someone out there who can see the beauty of this sweet, gentle duo. This May-December romance deserves their very own love nest with a kind, quiet family who loves them just as much as they love each other. Nova is more than ready for his forever home, and you can adopt him this month with 50% off his adoption fees! 💙

Nova, or as our staff like to call him -- Casanova -- is GLRS’s very own Mr. Darcy. This handsome fellow is a perfect gentleman, and at least two of his lady neighbors have bunny crushes and visit him daily. He is a beautiful harlequin bunny with natural dignity and a perpetually calm demeanor. He’s the kind of kind who’ll sneak into your heart and win you over with his gentle charm.

Nova is a reserved, gentle soul, with meticulous litter habits. He originally came to us in April 2019, when he was rescued from a hoarding situation in Las Vegas, and then was adopted as part of a trio in May 2020. Unfortunately for reasons only bunnies know, the other two members of his trio began picking on him and all three were returned in October 2022. The other two found their forever homes, and now it's Nova's turn!

He’s been with us for a grand total of 1,388 days and we would love to see him spend the rest of his life in a home of his own, with a family who sees just how special he is. If that family is yours, email us at [email protected] to come meet him!

If you made it out to our June Jubilee event, hopefully you had a chance to try some of our vegan nacho bar! We wanted to share a few of our favorite recipes from the GLRS kitchen! These recipes are designed to be easy to prepare with limited resources, even outside of a fully equipped kitchen.

**Important Note:** When using packaged items, always remember to check the labels to ensure they are 100% vegan. Packaged tortilla chips and spices can sometimes contain unexpected non-vegan ingredients.

**Frijoles in Bunny Town**

**Ingredients:**

* ¾ cup Olive Oil
* 1 medium whole Onion, diced small
* 1 whole Bell Pepper, diced small
* 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
* 3 tablespoons Cajun Spice
* 47 oz can Pinto Beans
* 1 cup chopped fresh Cilantro
* Salt and Pepper (season to taste)

**Procedure:**

1. Add olive oil to a heated pot at about 375°F.
2. Add onions and sauté until translucent, then add diced bell peppers.
3. Mix in the remaining dry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
4. Add the can of beans with its liquid, mix well, and simmer for 30-40 minutes. The beans should reach a thick soup consistency.
5. Fold in the cilantro and adjust salt and pepper to taste.
6. Serve in a large bowl for dipping or as a base for nachos.

**Roasted Cauliflower**

**Ingredients:**

* 3 lb bag Cauliflower Florets (rinsed)
* ¼ cup Olive Oil
* 2 tablespoons Cajun Spice
* 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
* Salt and Pepper (season to taste)

**Procedure:**

1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until the cauliflower is well coated with olive oil and seasoning.
2. Place the seasoned cauliflower on a cooking tray and roast in a preheated 450°F oven for 20 minutes, or until desired tenderness is achieved.
3. Serve on a plate, garnished with fresh sliced jalapeños and a sprinkle of Sriracha.

Meet Cheddar: he's not just a gouda boy, he's grate! 🧀

This handsome young man has personality to spare! Cheddar was surrendered to us this spring when his family could no longer care for him. He’s a confident dude, and loves snacks, pets, and being the boss! He’s a very sweet, affectionate guy, and genuinely loves people. He’s a Holland Lop, and currently holds the title of the cheesiest boy in Binkyville! 💙

It's happily ever after for Odin! 💙

Odin (white) had a rough start before he got to us -- he was left on our porch in a plastic storage bin in September 2023 with his eye ruptured, infected, and hanging out of the socket. Within a week he had surgery to remove the eye thanks to our supporters who helped make it happen!

Just over a year ago in July 2024 he went home as a foster-to-adopt with resident bun Lily, and they hit it off right away! Within a few months they were fully bonded and his adoption was official. Look at them now!

Odin is so happy and loved in his forever home, and we couldn't have gotten him there without your help. If you'd like to help us continue rescuing buns like him, there are so many ways to get involved!

2️⃣ Adopt! Every rabbit that gets adopted opens up a pen for a new rabbit to come in. There's always a rabbit in need, but we can't help them if we don't have the space. July is the perfect time to come meet your new BFF with our Sun's Out Buns Out adoption special!

4️⃣ Share! Maybe you're not looking to adopt right now, but your friends might be! Helping us expand our reach can open up new opportunities for the buns.

After just over SIX YEARS with us, it's time for Precious and Bailey to find their forever home! 💙

Precious and Bailey are two of the sweetest, most gentle bunnies at the sanctuary. Precious is a beautiful mini rex girl, and Bailey is her lovely, spotted best friend. They came to the sanctuary in 2019, and in six years they’ve watched and waited patiently while adopter after adopter passed them by. We can’t understand why — these two are everything you could want in a bonded pair of bunnies! They have beautiful house manners, perfect litter box habits, they are gentle and sweet, and desperately want to be loved.

Precious is the braver of the two, and will usually be the first to visit with friendly people (especially if her visitors have cilantro!), while Bailey prefers to wait and follow where Precious leads. These sweet, shy girls have been waiting so long for a loving home. We know there’s a special person out there who is ready to open their heart to this sweet pair of seniors, and shower them with all the love and patience and kindness they deserve. 💙

Fireworks aren't fun for everyone! Besides the destruction they cause to wildlife and nature, fireworks can also be really scary for the animals in your home. Here are a few tips to keep your buns calm this weekend! 🌟

1️⃣ Pull the curtains and dim the lights -- removing the potential for big bursts of light from your neighbor's driveway display can help keep things tranquil.
2️⃣ Provide lots of hiding spots! Boxes, wooden hideouts, and tunnels all provide great coverage.
3️⃣ Keep your bun distracted with snacks! Maybe tonight's the night for some extra cilantro, a bite of banana, or whatever your bun loves best 🌿
4️⃣ Stay close, provide lots of pets (if your bun is comfortable enough), and talk to them in a calming voice to let them know you're there with them 💙

The sun's out and it's time to get this bun out of the sanctuary and into her forever home! ☀️

This beauty queen is Miss Annabelle. She’s one of the smartest bunnies we’ve ever met, and has a repertoire of tricks she’s sometimes willing to show off for treats! Annabelle loves nose scritches, cilantro, and hanging out with her people. 💙

Annabelle is a sweet and sassy Holland Lop, but her adorable face comes with some dental complications -- due to a genetic condition, Annabelle needs her teeth filed every other week. She doesn’t mind at all, and manages the car rides like a champ! We have a wonderful vet who performs this for her for only $20, and for the right adopter, we will cover this cost for the duration of Annabelle’s life.

We'll be back at Humane Society of Huron Valley THIS Sunday, July 6, for our next Hop & Help! 💙

Come see us from noon - 2 PM for food, toys, beds, other supplies, and general guidance to help you care for your rabbits. No income or residency requirements, please leave the buns at home 🐰
