Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary GLRS provides a safe haven to abandoned, abused, and neglected domestic rabbits and others. Expect a response within 1-2 days.

Visiting the Sanctuary: We welcome visitors and are very excited to share the wonders of the sanctuary, however, we are not open to the public on a daily basis. Tours are available by appointment only during the

spring, summer, and early fall. Please email us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a visit and have us confirm your visit. To help us continue providing a safe haven for the animals, we request a donation of $5.00 per person for tours of the sanctuary. To get involved in volunteering email [email protected]

What does $25 a month mean to a bunny like Roxy?

$25 a month covers one spay or neuter for a bunny in need. It meets the hay needs of every animal at GLRS for an entire month. $25 a month gives our residents the security and stability they need to thrive. This Giving Tuesday, a generous supporter has offered to match every one-time or recurring monthly gift up to $3,000! That means that if you choose to make a monthly gift of $25 per month, it becomes $50 per month! That’s twice the hay, twice as many bunnies spayed or neutered for adoption, and twice the impact.

These bonded sisters are still looking for their forever home! 💙

Magenta, Jade, and Maize are sweet, funny girls who love to snuggle together on top of their cardboard box. Maize is a little shy, but her sisters help her feel safe. After all, what are sisters for?

It might take them a little while to warm up to new people and places, which is true for most bunnies, but once they feel ready, they love to explore, hop, and play! They're very curious and love greens, especially cilantro.

Help Mochi find her forever home! 💙

Mochi had a busy start at GLRS, giving birth to SEVEN babies shortly after arriving. Her babies were the "Apple" litter (a few of which are also still looking for their forever homes!), but now she's single, spayed, and ready to mingle with a forever family of her own!

She is a confident girl who loves to flop and chew on toys and boxes. Like many rabbits, she doesn't enjoy handling, and she likes to have my own space, but she's funny and outgoing and a lot of fun to watch!

Our big boy Henry needs your help! 🐷

Henry is quite ill and will need transport to MSU for diagnostics and treatment. The issue seems to be with his spine or joints; our vet believes his condition is treatable, but likely to be costly.

We're waiting on more information from MSU about diagnostics and a high/low estimate, and will be sure to update you all as soon as we have that -- but we know we're going to need a decent bit of funds to get him back to feeling himself.

Henry came to us at only 3-4 months old in 2021 when he fell off a transport truck on a freeway in Indiana. He was destined for a short life as a "meat pig," and we're so thankful that he's far outlived his original life expectancy of 6 months before slaughter, but we want to make sure he can continue to spend his days happy and healthy 💙
