This sweet girl is Peppa. She was adopted from us a few months ago and has a good life with her human mama. She was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will need surgery to remove it. The cost of $2000 for this is beyond her finances and we offered to post a fundraiser specifically for her. You can donate with the link here or call your donation directly to Colonial Park Vet Hospital at 940-691-0261.
PS: kind and uplifting comments are welcome below.

It is just another Manic Monday here!! Today, I walked into Animal Hospital and there was a kitten there needing to be seen. The woman did not have the funds to pay for the visit. We were asked to help with the Tulip Fund. We get lots of calls and messages to help owners with vetting needs. We have helped wilth so many since the Tulip Fund was created. We give $150.00 per pet. The goal is to help owners with minor vetting needs so they do not have to give up their pet. We do not like having to turn people away. Right now, our fund in getting low.

This is Miko and he is one of the Houdini's Burk Buddies. He has some ongoing vetting needs which the Tulip Fund earmarked for the Burk Buddies.

Please consider making a donation of any amount to help owners to keep their pets and not take them to a shelter. I know so many owners have been so thankful. Here is the Paypal link to make a tax deductible donation. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=Y499JCWXNFYD4 Please comment it is for the Tulip Fund. May you have a most wonderful day!

Update! Please share!!
Roxie could really use some help! We got some bad news that she has cancerous ovaries and uterus and also a mammary tumor. Dr duffer was able to remove the ovaries and uterus and luckily the cancer seemed to be contained. Roxie was there for her spay and this was all quite unexpected The mammary tumor will be removed in 4/6 weeks. She is such a sweetheart and it’s quite possible that after her next surgery she may be cancer free. We want to give her that chance. Her medical costs are estimated to be around $750. We would very much appreciate any donation, large or small, that would help with this unexpected situation.
Thanks for your help!!
By the way/ this is one of the reasons that spay/neuter is so important!

Houdini’s Burk Buddie #11! ❤️ROXIE❤️
It’s been a while so Houdini would like this sweet girl to get out of the shelter and get the vetting she needs. She has been Ok’d for the Underdog Express transport program so the Houdini Fund through Emily’s Legacy Rescue will allow us to get her shots and spay, etc to be ready for transport and adoption. We appreciate your help and if you are able to contribute a bit to keep this fund going Houdini and all of us would be very grateful!

Thank you Julie!!

From Julie:
It's Texoma Gives Day!!
Hey, everyone. Many of you know my passion for Emily's Legacy, a donation only animal rescue here in Wichita Falls.
Last year, Kimber Farrar-Hopkins started The Tulip Fund (a program of ELR) to help owners with small vetting bills to be able to keep their pets instead of having to rehome them. Or pets that have an emergency situation.
At Christmas, we were able to raise almost $500 for Emily's. This year, my goal is $750 🙂
Please make a donation in my name and ask that it goes to me. This will go towards my goal for this year.
WHEN YOU MAKE YOU DONATION, PLEASE PUT IT IN HONOR OF JULIE COLEY.
That sounds so cheesy, but it's a way Kimber will know it's going towards MY Christmas Fund raiser. 🙂
Let's help furbabies!! Love ya'll!

I’m ready to support Emily's Legacy Rescue Inc. on September 10, 2020 during Texoma Gives. Learn more about Emily's Legacy Rescue Inc. and all the other organizations participating in .

Update! Rylie is doing great with her Foster. She had a check up and her wounds are healing nicely. We are so grateful to her wonderful foster, Rose, for giving her time to heal and get used to being in a home. Donations still appreciated!

Houdini’s Burk Buddy #10! ❤️Rylie! ❤️
Houdini is feeling the love for this special girl. Rylie has been on her own for a few months and in the meantime had pups. Her collar was embedded in her neck so her wounds ( not nearly as bad as Houdini’s) will take time and care. She also has a leg injury. She is safe now after having several hours of vet care to get her ready to heal at her foster’s home.
The pup that was still with her is also safely with an Emilys Legacy foster
Your donations through this fund allowed us to not even hesitate to help Rylie even though we knew it could be costly. So far her costs are about $465. We know more bills will come as she gets her leg worked on and spay etc.
Any amount you can give will help us continue to take of Rylie and others. Every little bit is helps!
Thanks to all of you who continue to honor Houdini by supporting his Houdini Burk Buddies!
❤️special thanks to the sweet ladies who were feeding her and alerted us to her emergency!

Introducing Houdini’s Burk Buddies #8 and #9!!!
Meet Roscoe and Rollo. These two brothers(we think) are at the Burk shelter and are ok’d for transport with the Underdog Express. We are looking for foster(s) so that can happen. They also need vetting completed and that’s where the Houdini Fund through Emily Legacy will help. Houdini loves to help his Burk doggie friends find great forever homes like he has found.
If you can help by becoming a foster or to donate which helps us continue with Houdini’s Legacy we would appreciate it! It will cost approximately $200 each to get them ready to go

Update: we regularly get to see news about Rae Rae from New York. Her new mom there loves her to pieces and she is super happy! Thanks for helping to make this possible! (Pic that I added on right is her in her new home)

Goal reached and surpassed already! I feel so blessed to have so many friends that help us save dogs!❤️❤️

It’s been a while but we would like to introduce Houdini’s Burk Buddy #6
Meet Rae Rae! This beautiful momma was wandering in the country until some nice folks fed her and contacted us to help save her. She was so shy and distrustful at first but that all changed when she knew she was safe. She had sore paws from wandering and a bad ear infection, but she is all healed up now! She will soon be leaving for New York with the Underdog Express program!
Houdini wants this buddy to benefit from the kind donations of his friends. It should take about $200 to fully fund Rae Rae for transport.
As always, he would love to have more donations to his Emilys Legacy Tulip Fund account so we can keep saving his friends that end up homeless and in the Burk shelter. Thanks!!!

This upcoming Tuesday is GivingTuesday. It is a day where non-profits around the globe ask for donations to help their organizations. We realize this is a very though economic and health concern time in our lives. We know that some people are suffering with lowered hours, layoffs, staying at home, loss of loved ones, and feeling down. We appreciate so much for all the first responders, nurses, doctors, police, etc. who put their lives on the line for our protection.

Emily's Legacy Rescue (ELR) has still been answering the call from the city when they message us to help save animals here in our community. We have had several injured animals that we have been blessed to get a foster in place to help save an animal's life. We are truly No Kill. We only put them down if they vet's have said there is no hope. We have had Survivor, Luna, Arcee, Ziggy, Larry, Hazel and many more that have had a hard time at life and some are already living in their forever homes. We will be sharing their stories of hopelessness to road to recovery. Some are still looking for their forever home.

Due to the Covid-19, our adoptions have been down, fundraising events have been cancelled, but saving lives still continue. We appreciate the people who donate food, blankets, litter, toys, treats, etc. We are so grateful for the fosters who step up to help save lives of many displaced animals in our community. We could not do rescue without your hard work and support. If you are able to help financially, it would be greatly appreciated. The work still continues of animals needing special vetting needs and the vet bills increase. We are getting ready for Arcee to have her surgery this next week to help her with her leg. We are not sure when she will have to have her leg amputated. She is only about 6 weeks old.

Again, thank you to our community for your prayers, support and kindness. It is greatly appreciated!!

We would like to introduce Harry! He was in the Burk shelter with little hope of being adopted so Houdini would like for him to be the 2nd recipient of some donations from his fund! Approximately $200 will be used to pay for all of the vetting needed to send him with Underdog Express to New York! We think he favors Houdini! Maybe a son??? Stay tuned to see him board the truck and see what family he chooses!
Your generosity allows this wonderful tribute to Houdini to continue saving Burk dogs. Thanks!!!
