The time has come for new policies to come in to play:

#1. Due to my aging, I am cutting back on how many dogs I do per day to help cut back the hours spent in the physical toll it is taking. At this very moment, I am booked until the end of October.

#2. I do feel that I take into consideration travel time to give a time of when your dog will be completed. I can no longer keep a completed dog in my shop more than 15 minutes past the time I have given for completion. Unless it is previously agreed upon because of another appointment or an out of control situation: $1 per minute past the 15 minute time of your dog's completion will be added to the cost of the groom for my time. I have had far too many not be picked up in reasonable time frames and have other dogs coming in which does not allow me time to eat, take care of personal things, go to the restroom, and my time is not being considered as important. Your dog's safety is my number 1 priority.

Thank you to all of my clients for understanding the need to implement some new things!

Skunks are back out now that it appears to them hibernation season is over. Watch your dogs a little more closely outside, if they do get sprayed, do not get them wet! This will make the oils in the skunk spray seep into the pores of the epidermis layer of your dog's skin and it will take anywhere from 6-12 months to get rid of the smell! There is nothing that can be done to neutralize the smell once it's in the skin.

After a week of absolute fun in the Sapphire Hound shop, I am going on vacation. I will be returning and responding to messages on Monday, September 16th.

The Sapphire Hound is closing books to new clients with full groom dogs at this time. Spots may open in the future and if/when they do, we will certainly make an announcement.

Bath, deshed, and light feather trims dogs are not in the full groom category and we are able to accommodate time slots for new clients with these dogs still.

We value and appreciate our current clients and the time has come to ensure we can continue to service their full groom breeds within a timely manner.

If we have not had your full groom dog on schedule in 2024, you would be considered a new client.

Clean feet with pink toes for the birthday girl this morning! Her owner is so much fun! We do all kinds of things differently with this one. The best part is, if we don't like it, we change it at the next groom because she grows back!

Had a little time today unexpectedly, so I roped one of the Sapphire Hounds into getting clean and getting pretty nails! I have 13 different colors available for anyone who wants a little fun on clean toes!

This cute little guy would like to help us make an announcement at The Sapphire Hound! We are in a position of having to implement a no call/no show policy. We understand life throws curve balls, but please have enough respect of our time and our other clients' time to realize that an appointment you don't show up for and don't contact us to cancel results in wasted time and takes an appointment spot from clients who are looking for their dogs to be groomed. From this point moving forward, if you are one of these few that doesn't feel like we need to be communicated with to cancel an appointment you have scheduled, we are no longer going to allow time to be booked because it is not a good fit for us. If you are more than 15 minutes late without communication, it is considered a no call/no show and we cannot accommodate because we have valuable relationships with our loyal clients and will respect their time as they respect ours.

That being said, we still stand by not having a cancelation policy in general and just ask for simple communication if your appointment isn't working out for any reason and a reschedule needs to be made. We are always happy to accommodate these situations, and we thank every single one of our clients recognizing our time is important.

Clean feet!

I groomed this sweet bernedoodle last week for her foster mom through KHS. She got fixed yesterday and will be going back to KHS in a few days. If any of my clients are interested, please let me know so we can work through the KHS foster advocate instead of going through the main process.

Her name is Shelby. She just turned 1 year old. She is kennel trained (although spending much of her first year in a kennel she likes to be in it a little too much.) She's learning how to play and be loved on. She was a very good girl for a first groom and having some pretty big issues with her coat. We got her cleaned up, cut down and her coat is so soft, shiny, and healthy! She really loves to lay her head on a lap or shoulder. A little timid, but is also able to go into an office setting and lay at your feet happily for the day!
