I’ve known Dan Davis for a long time and it’s been a pleasure to see him grow from a punk rock kid to a punk rock dad and family man. I’m beyond moved that he has organized this benefit for us. Although this does benefit me and my family I hope that everyone comes out to experience new, vibrant music and that they bring their children. I’ve seen what letting young people attend these kinds of shows can do—namely it empowers them. I’m also sharing what Dan wrote in his original post. It follows here:
Really looking forward to this show! It's a rare thing that we choose to put on shows to help each other out, but we have an excellent lineup pulled together here in order to raise some funds for our friend Jedd Beaudoin and his family, who lost their home to a fire some weeks ago. We (This Ain't Heaven Recording Concern) are working together with the Brickyard to put on this benefit show, with 100% of ticket sales and donations going to the family.
I'm going to cover this town in flyers and handbills over the next week, because it would be great to get some real attendance out for this one, especially from the DIY community. It's important that we can extend our ethics about how we treat each other to moments when people in our community could use our direct support, and I'm really looking forward to seeing this lineup and doing what we can to help!
We'll be making opportunities to donate available at the show, and TAHRC will be donating all of our cassette and merch sales for the evening as well. Come out, see some excellent bands, buy a tape or a shirt, and help us support our dear friend and their lovely family.
Big thanks to the bands who agreed to play for free, and to any of you who have already committed to coming out to help raise some money!
