UPDATE: The kitty has passed away. 😢

A good samaritan brought in this kitty around 10am. He had been hit by a car at Lincoln and Market. If this is your pet please call 524-3257

We had a good Samaritan bring in a light brown and tan female chihuahua that was hit by a car. Unfortunately she was already deceased. She was wearing a broken light green harness with no tags and had no microchip. If this is your baby then we are very sorry for your loss. Her photo will be in the comment section if you need to check to see if she is yours.

We are excited to be transitioning to a new clinic software this Thursday 5-23-24! While we are getting the computers, lab equipment, and credit card machines hooked up that morning we will not be seeing appointments. You will still be able to call in with questions and pick up medications but please be patient with us and we get used to this new software. 🙂

This sweet boy was hit by a car this morning near 27th St S and Bennett and was brought to us by a good Samaritan. He has no collar and is not microchipped. If you know him or his owner please have them call us at (316) 524-3257.

Poor Brooklyn has been looking for a home for 9 months 💔😢

She was surrendered to us in March. Her owner tried and tried, but Brooklyn was not happy living with other cats. She would thrive in a home as the only cat!

- 2.5 years old
- Spayed female
- Short hair with torbie colored coat
- Has been around dogs when she was younger. It’s been a while.
- No toddlers or babies

Brooklyn has a room to herself at the rescue, but she is super lonely. She is dying for constant attention and a forever person. When you enter her room, she immediately rolls over and wants to be pet. She loves to play with toys and needs a few cat posts/scratchers in the home.

We have showed Brooklyn to many adopters, but she always gets looked over. It breaks our hearts. She is loving, playful, and promises to stay by your side.

If you don’t have any cats in the home and are interested in fostering or adopting Brooklyn, please message us!!! We want our girl to find her home. She deserves it!!! 🥹❤️

Even though it seems cold to us right now (most days this time of year 😉), we are still seeing lots of fleas on our patients! While adult fleas will die at temperatures (for SEVERAL days) below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, the other flea life stages (and ticks) just go dormant and wait for another warm day (like today!) to hatch out. Please keep your pets on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention year round to prevent unwanted "guests" in your homes! 🙂

We have decided to join with other local veterinary clinics to provide donations for Operation Holiday this year! This will provide dog and cat food for animals belonging to people in need. Monetary donations go towards a discounted bulk food purchase through the Kansas Humane Society and Hills Pet Nutrition.

There have been some recent pet food recalls. If you are feeding one of these foods, you may want to switch to a different brand temporarily and watch for signs of vomiting or diarrhea.

FDA, CDC, and state partners are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Kiambu that is potentially associated with pet food made by Mid America Pet Food.

We will be extending the clinic's lunch break this Friday 8-18-23 to allow for time to attend Dr. Fred Wingert's funeral. There will be some staff present to take phone calls and allow for medications and food to be picked up from 12pm until 2:30pm, but no patient visits will be scheduled during this time. We appreciate your understanding!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Fred Wingert, the founding veterinarian of Wingert Animal Hospital. Dr. Fred was always ready to give an encouraging word and a laugh and his absence will be deeply felt. The clinic will be closed on Friday afternoon, 8-18-23, to allow staff the opportunity to attend his funeral. We will post more details on the specific closure times once we know more.
