Dune got his first trim today! He did amazing, except for one moment when he started dozing and almost fell over😂😂😂 I'll probably try to go back and trim some more in another couple of weeks.

Prep work for the first ride is underway. So far Dune has handled everything great, but he does struggle with seeing me on the other side. So we've been doing lots of fence work and he's getting much better about it.

Saddle is on!!! I had no intentions of trying the saddle today, but I asked myself, WWCD (what would Chelsea do😂) and I went for it. Couldn't ask for a better first time. He was calm, patient, and no funny business. He's also letting me pick out all four hooves, so hopefully he'll get trimmed soon! Thanks to Stebbins Ranch Horses & Cattle for always encouraging me to do more in my training🥰

Took Dunes halter off tonight and fly sprayed all over. We've been doing a lot of desensitizing and working on getting soft and giving when lounging. He's coming along great, although a little slow, but that's what I get for choosing a 7yr old😂

No longer tag number 6541, meet Dune! So far he has proved to be level headed, curious and a thinker. I got the tag off in the first session and was petting down his neck. Our second day he was letting me rub and swing the whip all over him and his legs. I took his drag lead off today, so hopefully he won't make me regret that tomorrow 😂 Dune is a 7yr old gelding from Sand Springs, OR, and we will be competing in The Fort Worth Mustang Show in September.

Here he is!!! My pick for the Fort Worth Mustang Show this year!!! He's a 7yr old gelding from Oregon, and his paperwork says he's 15.2... he's a big boy😬😂

Took Flynn to his first show this weekend! He did beyond great and handled the new environment without issue. We entered three events (WT Ranch Trail, Ranch Rail, Ranch Riding) and placed in all three!! Even getting 3rd in the ranch riding. We were in classes of about 15 or so, including some really nice riding Quarter horses. I didn't expect to place at all, just wanting to get him exposure, so I'm very proud of Flynn for how well he did! Excited to see how he performs at the The Fort Worth Mustang Show Sept 8-9th, where he will be available in an auction following the show.

✨Flynn Rider✨
3yr old, 15hh gelding from Nevada Wild Horse Range, NV
Super sweet and loving personality, overall pretty chill but loves to move out and explore. Been riding in arenas and trails and he's been great in both. Just attended our first fun show last night where he did great with all the excitement and people. He's going to make someone an excellent partner, especially after a little more time and miles. We will be competing at the The Fort Worth Mustang Show Sept. 8-9, and he will be for sale in the auction that follows!

Flynn went on his first trail ride this weekend! He did so well, but our ride got cut short with a storm that was moving in. Can't wait to get some more miles on him! We'll be in Fort Worth Sept. 7-9th!

Honestly can say Flynn has been my easiest horse to teach to load, and that's probably cause I didn't have to teach him anything. Just opened the door and walked in and he followed, didn't even pause to sniff it first. Chill standing inside and backed out smoothly.

First and second rides were a success! By the second ride tonight he had a lot more forward motion and softer steering. He seemed more confused than nervous most of the time, but was fairly laid back for both rides. Stay tuned for more rides! We'll be competing in Sept at The Fort Worth Mustang Show

Flynn Rider is doing great, I think the first ride is coming soon! He's such a chill dude and really tries hard to find the right answer. He will be available after the The Fort Worth Mustang Show in Sept, so stay tuned for more updates!

Murphy Update! He's been doing very well, he didn't get ridden for almost two weeks when he needed a chiropractic adjustment, but afterwards he's been doing great. We've trailered and ridden off property twice, and are riding around out in the pasture every day. He loves to move out and explore!

No longer number 4167, meet Flynn! (Flynn Rider from Tangled) my pick for the The Fort Worth Mustang Show .This boy forgot he was wild. Halters, leads, lunges, backs, picks up all four feet, stands for fly spray, to be brushed. Good with the rope, whip and flag all over and around him. He did most of these things for the first time with absolutely no problem! He is so chill and not much phases him. And he's a sweetheart and loves scratches and meeting new people! He stands at 15hh

My new mustang! He's a 3yr old gelding from the Nevada Wild Horse Range, and he is my pick to compete later this year in The Fort Worth Mustang Show, so he will be available afterwards. Last night he let me take off his tag and he is so chill and curious. I don't have a name yet though.

Murphy had his first ride earlier this week, and we finished up his third ride this evening! I'm keeping it short and sweet with this guy to allow him to gain confidence with me on his back. So far so good!

I realized I haven't posted any updates on Murphy in a while, so here it is. He's doing great, the first month or so of being here I was extremely busy and the weather was all over the place so didn't get to do much, but recently I've been able to work with him consistently and he's haltered, leading well, picks up all four feet, and is chill with the flag and whip all over him. Hoping to get his feet actually trimmed this week, and start working on trailer loading to finish his tip training.

Picked up my first Tip horse today! I've been approved as a TIP trainer for a while but have been too busy with either makeovers or client mustangs to get one. He does have an adopter already, and we drove all the way to North Carolina to pick this guy up! He's a 3yr old gaited gelding from Pancake, NV. He seems pretty chill and very curious, I'm excited to start working with him.

Slepinier Update! He sure has been a challenge, definitely one of the most difficult mustangs I've worked with. He's a super fast learner, retains what he's learning and improves every session, but he still struggles to let his guard down and trust. We've had some pretty major breakthroughs recently though. I can pick up/hold and clean out all four feet now, and hoping to get his back hooves trimmed for the first time by the end of the week. I've also been doing a lot of jumping around which has really paid off and he's not so quick to react. He's lunging nicely, accepts fly spray, the flag, and caterpillars😂 Hopefully it will dry up soon and we can do more groundwork.

This is Sleipnir, a 12yr old gelding from the Red Desert Complex in WY. He's extremely smart and retains things well. Once he finds the right answer he strives to keep doing it. However he's been extremely hard to gentle, but I feel like we're finally getting somewhere. He's become way more relaxed and letting me pet him further. I'm really excited to see how this guy turns out. I'll have him for a few months in training for his owner.

Meet Tide, a 3yr old from Onaqui, UT. Hes my sister's first mustang, and I'll be helping her along with his training. Here's some progress that we are making lately. He's been haltered, leading, backing, yielding hindquarters, lunging, and desensitizing.

Scotch got his front feet trimmed today! We are still working on his hind end, he can be very kicky so it's more slow going.

Meet Scotch! He's in to be gentled and learn basic handling. Worked with already for a bit this morning and got the first touch! He has such a soft eye and a calm demeanor, I'm excited to see him progress!

Why having a solid foundation is so important! I had Eiliss(3yr old) in for 30days back in March, 7 months later with 0 rides I jumped on her and rode her. She was practically perfect, and we even went down the road (which she'd never done before). She also has found her forever home now!!
