A Heartfelt Reminder About Respect and Boundaries

At Companion Animal Hospital, we are deeply committed to being there for our clients and their beloved pets. Your trust in us means the world, and we strive to provide the best care possible every day.

However, we kindly ask for your understanding that our team members are human, too. They have lives, families, and responsibilities outside of work. Just like everyone else, they need time to recharge and focus on their well-being.

With this in mind, we have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment of staff members on their private social media pages at any time. We ask that communications regarding your pet's care remain within appropriate business channels.
When the business is closed, we kindly request that you respect our team's personal time away. If you have an emergency during non-business hours, we encourage you to reach out to your nearest emergency hospital.

We greatly value the partnership we share with our clients in caring for your pets, and we thank you for showing the same kindness and respect to our staff that they strive to give you every day.
Thank you for helping us maintain a professional and respectful environment for all. Together, we can continue to provide exceptional care for your furry family members!

Sincerely,
Companion Animal Hospital

We wanted to announce that starting next week 12/10/24 we will be going live with our new software management program. Our amazing staff has been working tirelessly for the last 10 weeks to get everything integrated. We know that with change there is always a learning curve and can have some hiccups, so we ask that next week in our "Go live" week you please show us patience as we grow together to continue providing you and your animals the best care possible. We know many of you have made future appointments and it is our understanding that we have got all of those moved into the new program and will continue sending reminders for those spots as they come up. While we are transitioning to the new program we may have slightly increased check-in and check-out times, however, we understand that your time is valuable and will do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition process. We thank you for your continued trust in us to be your pet's medical care team providers and we look forward to assisting you all in the future. Thank you!

We would like to emphasize today the significance of Fear Free Veterinary services. In the accompanying image, you'll find Miss Ellie Mae, a valued patient who initially faced challenges with veterinary visits. Recognizing her apprehension, her owners approached us seeking guidance on how to ensure her visits were stress-free, aiming to prevent any further anxiety that could affect her interactions with medical professionals.

Similar to human experiences, veterinary visits can evoke nervousness, and it was understandable that Ellie Mae and her family had genuine concerns about making these visits as smooth as possible. Through collaborative discussions, we recommended introductory "snack" visits, during which Ellie Mae would visit us simply to receive treats and acclimate to our environment prior to any necessary procedures. Her owners demonstrated exceptional dedication, meticulously following our recommendations and incorporating insights from Estella, our technician who specializes in obedience training and Fear Free certification.

With a combination of anti-anxiety medication and positive reinforcement techniques, Ellie Mae made remarkable progress. During her recent routine annual check-up, we were able to conduct a heartworm test and a comprehensive physical examination without inducing stress or defensiveness in Ellie Mae. We are immensely proud of her achievements and grateful for her family's commitment to her well-being.

None of this progress would have been possible without the dedication of our compassionate staff, who prioritize the comfort of each patient, as well as the unwavering support and effort from Ellie Mae's owners. Ellie Mae herself has shown incredible receptiveness and eagerness to learn throughout this journey.

We elected to share Ellie Mae's story, which highlights the transformative impact of Fear Free practices in veterinary care. We remain committed to providing exceptional care and ensuring positive experiences for all our patients.

As we approach this week’s celebrations, please remember that some pets may not enjoy the festivities as much as we do. Here are some tips to ensure the safety of your pets during the week’s and weekend’s events:

🐾 Keep your pet indoors before fireworks begin. This might require earlier or later potty breaks to prevent them from slipping a collar or jumping a fence out of fear and getting lost.
🐾 Provide a safe indoor space, away from outdoor exits, such as a bedroom, bathroom, or kennel. Make it soft, comfortable, and free from the loud noises that many of us enjoy but can distress our pets.
🐾 Play classical music at a moderate volume to help muffle the sounds of fireworks.
🐾 Ensure your pet is microchipped and that the chip is registered, in case they do escape.
🐾 Administer anxiety medication as directed by your veterinarian.

We wish all our existing clients, potential new clients, and their families a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July celebration.

It is Grass Awn season. We would like to send a friendly reminder to check your pups feet as they come in from their walks or play time outside. These things can migrate in their feet causing issues. If you notice your pet limping, chewing their feet or any swelling let us know and we would be happy to help ❤️

We are actively working on resolving the issues that caused our system to go offline and are committed to getting everything back up and running as soon as possible.

Many of you may have seen the family of birds living in our trees so we wanted to update and say the babies are finally here and doing well. We were surprised to learn that there is a second nest with bigger babies they also are doing well. We have enjoyed watching the family and I know many of you have got a kick out of watching the dad in the window during your visits.

Lucy is a 9 year old sweet girl. Her mom has fallen on hard times (like many of us) Lucy is needing immediate dental work to remove all of her teeth due to have chronic stomatitis. She has been fighting infection after infection and is getting to where it’s hard for her to eat. Her mom has cut back on things to save money for her procedure such as ending her phone plan, stopping her internet and has been collecting scrape to earn money that way. Due to her mom having some personal medical troubles she is unable to work. We are asking to set up a “Good Sam” fund for this sweet girl and will continue to grow the account for others in times of need to help get pets the care they deserve. If you are willing to donate to her care or even to future pets please call us to make a donation at 316-722-6464.
