Willowbend Animal Hospital

Willowbend Animal Hospital Our Philosophy is every pet deserves the gift of excellent health. Willowbend Animal Hospital was established by Dr. Michael R. Johnson in August of 2012.

Dr. Johnson and his staff understand that since our pets cannot speak for themselves, the veterinary health care team must speak for them. We believe that each pet deserves the opportunity to enjoy optimal health. We view each patient as a unique individual, in regard to their personality, health and lifestyle. Every patient deserves our best, all the time. This philosophy impacts and dictates everything we do.

One of our missions as veterinarians and as a veterinary team is to relieve pain in our patients.

Degenerative joint disease (DJD, arthritis), is extremely common in our pets, just as it is in people. Regenerative medicine involves using the bodies own cells to bring healing and the elimination of pain to our patients. There is not a drug in existence that can provide the level of pain elimination/management that regenerative medicine can.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) uses a patient’s own blood components to stimulate a healing response in damaged tissues. In response to an injury or tissue damage, the body naturally redirects platelets (clotting cells) from the blood to the injured area to initiate a healing response. Platelets storenumerous growth factors that are released in response to signals from the injured tissue. When a concentrated solution of platelets are injected directly into injured tissue, the same healing response is stimulated, but in a more powerful form. By enhancing the body’s natural healing capacity, the treatment may lead to a more rapid, more efficient, and more thorough restoration of the tissue to a healthy state.

If you think your pet has chronic arthritis pain and you would like to discuss PRP, please contact us.

If you have been in recently you may have noticed a new face at the front desk! We are happy to introduce you to our new receptionist, Kiara. A little bit about Kiara;

“I have been in veterinary medicine for almost five years. I have 3 dachshunds and 2 cats that I adore: Prince, Diddy, Duke, Sully and Mochi. I spend most of my free time reading, listening to podcast, crafting or hanging out with my fur family. I am so happy to be able to spend time working with others fur babies!”

Please join us in welcoming her to the Willowbend team🐾
