🐾 HELP US CLEAR THE SHELTERS TOMORROW ❤️ We’re partnering with KSN for the 10th Annual Clear the Shelters on Saturday, September 7th (11 AM - 6 PM) & Sunday, September 8th (1-5 PM) 😄 We will have $25 adoption fees for adult dogs (excluding high-profile dogs and puppies) and kittens! As always, adult cats will remain pick-your-price! Adult dogs are 6 months and older, and kittens are 11 months and under.

Spay/neuter surgery, microchips, and age-appropriate vaccinations are included. Adoptions are first come, first served - no appointment needed.

We will not be able to arrange dog-to-dog introductions on event day, so please leave your dogs at home. If you need a dog-to-dog introduction before adopting, please plan to adopt on a different day. Plan to expect longer than normal wait times.

😸 A REUNION TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING 🐾 Meet Bella, a sweet girl who was surrendered to us! She was found by a good Samaritan about three months ago severely matted 😢 They got her mats shaven off and she was feeling so much better without all that tight knotted fur 🪒 Upon coming to KHS, our Intake Department scanned her for a microchip and we found one! We called the phone number associated with the microchip number and turns out Bella had gotten out nearly TWO YEARS AGO 😱 Her owners had completely lost hope, but 15 digits of code helped get her back home today 🏡 They were so excited to have her back and we couldn’t be happier for sweet Bella ❤️

1 in 3 pets go missing at some point, but you can ensure they make it back home with a microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice. There’s no tracker or GPS, just enough memory for a code that ties back to your information. Animals cannot tell us where they came from or who they are, but a microchip can. Our neighbors at Wichita Animal Services chips owned animals for $15 (please call 316-350-3360 beforehand), we will be having a FREE Microchip & Vaccine Clinic next Saturday on September 14th, and we will have a dog microchip & vaccine clinic at Woofstock on October 5th 🐶 Please take advantage of any of these resources and help us return your pet to you 🤝🏽 If you’d like to help provide a microchip to a homeless animal, $5 a month is all it takes to make a difference as part of our Paw Pals donor program!

Meet our puppy princess Tiara! 👑 She is about 2 years old and is fully grown at 47 lbs. We will be doing 30-minute read times at 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00 AM ❤️ This program is designed to improve children's reading and communication skills for Grades 1st - 5th. Get ready to say gesundheit 🤧 We have 5 DOGS AVAILABLE NOW from our foster-to-adopt program! 🐕 This program is designed especially for dogs with CIRDC, a doggy cold which causes sneezing and coughing 😷 Like a human cold, CIRDC symptoms usually only last 2-4 weeks ⏳ Foster-to-Adopt is different from your traditional fostering because you adopt the dog after your foster term! The adoption fee is also replaced by a smaller foster deposit of only $50! 💸

We currently have 5 dogs available for Foster-to-Adopt! 🐾 Meet Big Chungus, Captain Crunch, Dirt Worms and Cake, Murdock and Owie Gooie! If you’re interested in any of them, please consider Foster-to-Adopt!

How Foster-to-Adopt works:
1) Meet and pick up your foster dog today and pay a foster deposit

3) If the dog is no longer coughing, we’ll schedule an appointment with our veterinarians for a health check
4) Once the dog is cleared of CIRDC, you can sign adoption paperwork, with no money due at the time of adoption!

💜 IT’S WISHLIST WEDNESDAY 🧡 Our shelter dogs NEED snack donations! 🐶 Snacks are more than just tasty treats! Without them, the shelter becomes a much more stressful place for our animals. We use snacks:

🧘 To help calm and build trust with shelter animals, such as when greeting new intakes
🧩 For enrichment items (these help reduce any stress or boredom while staying at the shelter)
💉 To distract animals while giving vaccines or medicine
🦴 To motivate animals to learn new behaviors, and to reward them for good behavior!

We specifically need soft meaty dog treats (like Pup-Peroni or Canine Carry Out)! 🥩 Most shelter dogs seem to prefer these softer snacks. This dog’s hero is the T-Rex 🦖 Meet Chompers! This goofy boy is 10 months old and full of playful puppy energy ⚡️ He is a huge fan of fetch and tug-of-war, but after playtime he will be ready to crash and snuggle up! Chompers is a BIG cuddler and loves to cozy up in your lap 🥰 Chompers is very smart and is already house trained! He also knows “sit”, “down”, “stay” and “come” 🧠 Chompers lived previously with a cat and three other dogs which he loved playing with! Moderator is the sweetest lil’ lady who is about 1 1/2 years old and is fully grown at 39 lbs 🐾 She has shown signs of house training and already knows “sit”! She LOVES people, she is always crawling into laps or flopping over for belly rubs 🥰 She takes snacks gently, rides great in the car and loves going on walks!
