Thor was unable to meet Kansas Humane Society adoption standards due to excitability when bringing him out of the kennel and stiff body language while being vaccinated. Unfortunately this decision leaves Thor homeless and in EXTREME DANGER OF BEING EUTHANIZED‼️ We have been told he could be euthanized as early as TODAY unless someone steps up to save him asap! 😭

Behavior notes from KHS staff : Assessor approached kennel, dog was standing tail wagging fast and barking at assessor. assessor presented treats and dog became quiet and focused, dog sniffed and ate treats and sat down. assessor opened kennel door and dog pushed on door to get out faster assessor put leash on dog and walked to intake room. dog was pulling on leash whole walk, and while in intake room. dog became stiff after prolonged body pettings and inspections and tail stopped wagging. after giving some medicine dog started to hard stare.
Today our behavior team was able to get him safely out of the kennel.

This sweet girl was recently brought into the Haysville pound and is in immediate need of owner reclaim or rescue! 🛟 Sadly unless someone comes forward during her stray hold she will soon transfer to Wichita Animal Shelter where her fate is unknown. 😢 We do not yet know what date she is set to transfer, but animals are usually held only a few days so she will not have long.

Haysville pound is a VERY short-term holding facility, and once the legal stray hold is complete, their unclaimed dogs transfer to the Wichita Animal Shelter. At WAS, criteria to become an adoption candidate is strict and chances of survival are slim- should they fall ill, the chance of them being saved is even slimmer.

Please help us get this girl to safety before she transfers to WAS! Haysville is not equipped to do direct adoptions so they must be pulled thru a licensed rescue. Apps take time to process so please hurry!!

Harry has survived unthinkable neglect and is still begging for his chance to be part of a home. 🥺🙏

Our team was notified of Harry during a brutal winter storm, it had been freezing and snowing for days and temps were continuing to drop with windchills of -20 below!! We knew it was extremely unlikely he would survive the night without intervention. We showed up to find this friendly loving boy had been chained up with only a plastic barrel to help shield him from the wind and snow and had injured his neck trying to escape his daily hell. 😭 We cannot imagine the unthinkable suffering and strength it took for him to survive for so long under such painful conditions.

Harry was one of the lucky ones. With no plan and blind faith in miracles our team responded, loaded him up, and he never looked back. He has received medical treatment for his wounds and has made a full recovery. ❤️‍🩹 Sadly however, he still has not been able to find a foster or adopter to show him what it is like to finally live in a home. 🏡🥺

We are so thankful to the incredible staff at Suite Paws for all the love, time, patience and training they are pouring into this boy while he waits for foster or family of his own. Their kindness is truly a blessing, but boarding fees add up and drain desperately needed rescue funds- funds that would otherwise be able to be used to save more lives. The sooner we are able to find a FOSTER or adopter for this boy, the better!! As many of our followers know, funds have been TIGHT and extra expenses like boarding fees are a tough blow.. but when the alternative is to turn away help to innocent lives that otherwise wouldn’t survive, how can we say no?

‼️HELP! EINSTEIN NEEDS RETURNED‼️

Einstein is a 6-7yr old suspected Bichon/poodle mix needing to be returned to our care. His adopters are elderly and facing health issues making it increasingly difficult to care for Einstein. One of the owners is now using a walker for safety and it seems that the walker has frightened Einstein putting him in fight or flight mode and resulting in him nipping at his owners. 😥

Einstein came to us a few years ago after he was euth listed at the humane society due to fear and being under socialized. It seems he continues to have some underlying fear-based behaviors and needs a foster/adopter who can help him thru this. He has previously been around another dog and did fine, but has not been around cats or kids.

From his owners: "Current name is Beau . He is a Bichon \Poodle mix. He is about 17 lbs & probably about 6-7 yrs. old. He is generally very shy until he gets to know you but otherwise in good health. We love him dearly but feel this is best since we are not well & cannot care for him."

This sweet sweet girl came into the care of Augusta Animal Control after being picked up as a stray and sadly hasn’t been claimed in the nearly 2weeks she has been there. Despite lots of interest there has been no follow through and this adorable happy go lucky pup is still waiting for her big break. She does well in her kennel and has not been reactive to other dogs and cats in the shelter. She LOVES people and her ears will go into sport mode for treats! 😅

Eve is about to finish her last journey into motherhood. She did awesome! Her beautiful pups are grown, most of them have found a home Eve is ready for her next adventure. She came to us from living on the streets, heavily pregnant and raised seven beautiful babies. She is now looking for a forever home or a new foster home where she can thrive. Eve loves all people, fetching tennis balls, hanging out in a cool shady spot in the backyard, tummy rubs or just laying around in the house. She enjoys car rides. She is housetrained and kennel trained, although she needs a sturdy kennel to keep her contained. She is an easy walk on the leash. Because of her past experiences she is guarding her resources (food and toys) understandably and gets a little bossy sometimes but corrects easily. She gets along perfectly with one of my dogs, but my other dog does not feel comfortable around her. She does not like cats but she is friendly with most dogs and she has a lot of energy to burn. She loves to play hard, she still has puppy like energy and her zoomies are superfast. Eve attends daycare where she does great and learns to be with all kinds of doggie friends and gets corrected when needed. She probably would do best with submissive dogs.

This kid is about 3 years old and relies on other dogs to help show him the way. He is a lovebug once he accepts you as his. He lives with two other medium to large dogs and has learned to take cues from them when he is a bit rambunctious. He knows many helpful things like sit, stay, wait, leave it, with me and lay; though he still needs reminders sometimes. He even knows how to catch treatos flying his way!

Kavik is looking for someone to continue to help him be brave and accept that there are some things that are a no fly zone without buckets of trust. We take him to All Dogs for baths and nails as they are not his favorite thing. He does great with kennel up at night and while we are gone; I wouldn't suggest free roaming as he might get bored and find something to get in trouble with. He has shown no tendencies to jump fence and run and has a 5' chain at the house. So, while he can jump like a kangaroo, he is content to stay home. He lived with a cat for awhile, but it was her time to cross the rainbow bridge, so he could use a bit more cat testing. He hasn't shown any guarding tendencies with food or toys other than he likes to steal his sisters toys/bones so she can steal them right back.

‼️ ADORABLE CATTLE DOG LOOKING FOR FRESH START‼️ This sweet sweet girl came into the care of Augusta Animal Control after being picked up as a stray and sadly hasn’t been claimed in the nearly 2weeks she has been there. There have been several “interested” parties in response to her animal control posts, but unfortunately none of them were serious offers so she is still in need. She does well in her kennel and has not been reactive to other dogs and cats in the shelter. Beauties and Beasts is a state-licensed 501(c)(3) death row rescue located in Wichita, Kansas. We do not discriminate against breed, age, medical needs, or behavior. We love ALL animals and breeds the same.

Since our founding in October 2014, we have been able to save the lives of over 2000 death row animals, we have also been able to network out over 1100 animals to other rescues. We are a completely 100% volunteer run rescue, we also rely on 100% donations from our followers and supporters to carry out our mission to save animals in our community.

Our purpose is to rescue death row animals from the shelter and in our community and place them in foster homes where they can receive the care and training needed to become family pets. Our main mission is to change these animals’ worlds one rescue at a time. Another large part of our mission is to be a voice for animals in need throughout our community and we are proud to say we have been able to make an impact on the streets of our city as well.
