Why do you hot shoe? Hot shoeing a horse provides benefits like a more precise fit to the hoof, this picture shows what I look at when the fit is spot on ✅, reading the burn on the shoe is very important. It also seals the hoof wall to potentially reduce bacteria and moisture. It also makes for easier shaping of the shoe due to the heated metal; however, it’s important to note that hot shoeing requires a skilled farrier to avoid potential harm to the horse’s hoof.

White Line Disease (WLD) is a fungal infection of the white line (anatomical part that is the binding tissue between the hoof wall and sole). When this infection spreads, it eats away at the white line, which causes separation. The infected tissue must be resected and opened up, so that healthy hoof can grow. Above are photos of the shoeing after we resected the WLD.

Why use a toe clip? Primarily used on front feet, a toe clip on a strong upright foot, helps stabilize the hoof capsule, and take away the sheering pressure from the nails. And it looks realllll nice 😮‍💨✅•

With a bit of practice and studying, we are now a Certified practice. The CF (Certified Farrier) accreditation is no simple task. It’s a 3 part test, that focuses on the importance of safe, sound, and educated horse-shoeing. It upholds a standard of farriery, that the AFA (American Farrier Association) deems necessary, to perform hoof-care on a professional basis. Thank you to all of our clientele who have supported the business so far, and we are excited for what’s coming next.

A horse won’t self-trim if he’s not being ridden, staying in the run/stall isn’t enough. Keep em’ scheduled, and see their feet improve.

Abscess of the frog… We see this often in extremely overgrown hooves. When the frog is so overgrown, thrush takes over, and causes further disruption to the hoof. Keep your horse on a consistent schedule to keep their feet healthy, and this won’t be a worry.
