Why use a toe clip? Primarily used on front feet, a toe clip on a strong upright foot, helps stabilize the hoof capsule, and take away the sheering pressure from the nails. And it looks realllll nice 😮‍💨✅•

PSA:
I flew home to my family in SC for a short trip, but it was extended when the hurricane caused a lot of damage. Please understand any rescheduling that is needed to accommodate for the time spent here. I’ll be back in AZ tomorrow to get back shoeing! Thank you to everyone who is understanding and praying.

With a bit of practice and studying, we are now a Certified practice. The CF (Certified Farrier) accreditation is no simple task. It’s a 3 part test, that focuses on the importance of safe, sound, and educated horse-shoeing. It upholds a standard of farriery, that the AFA (American Farrier Association) deems necessary, to perform hoof-care on a professional basis. Thank you to all of our clientele who have supported the business so far, and we are excited for what’s coming next.

A horse won’t self-trim if he’s not being ridden, staying in the run/stall isn’t enough. Keep em’ scheduled, and see their feet improve.

“Why do you burn the shoe on the foot?”
There are many benefits to hot-shoeing that can’t be matched by cold-shoeing. When we burn the shoe to the foot, it leaves the burn on the shoe, (pictured above) we can use this to know we fit the whole foot perfectly all the way back to the heels. The burn also kills the bacteria that would otherwise be trapped under the shoe. Also, if the shoe is flat when it is burned on, it mates the shoe perfectly to the now perfectly flat foot. This is all necessary for a balanced, flat, clean shoeing job.

Horse owners! If your farrier gets done, and you can clearly see the shoe is rotated, stand up for yourself. You horses depend on you to know what is atleast “close” to being correct. If there is a ton of hoof hanging off one side, don’t be afraid to inquire. You are your horses advocate.

This is a serious case we started today. When occasionally, a hind shoe on a front foot is ok, (as long as that’s the true shape of the foot), today that wasn’t the case. We properly trim the foot and shape the the shoe to the foot, not shape the foot to the shoe.
