Warm weather in my barn includes shade cloth, fans and hosing off as needed. Gypsy will feel as entitled as Gus soon enough lol

Arlo and I took the day off and headed North back to our epic back country exploring going all the way through Agua Fria into Tonto, touching also on parts of the Great Western Trail. I had marked off gps coordinates where I believed a massive ruins were and by golly we found it! Along with so many petroglyphs and one of our greatest finds ever! We had a fantastic day!

Appointment (2nd attempt) with new window installer 🙄
Give horses a bath and get some riding in 🐴🐴🪣🧼

Current status: 12:30 pm and window tech still not here 😡

Revised schedule:
Work till 12:30 💻
Hopefully installer gets here soon 🤞
Now have lost all motivation 😑
Also have headache 🤕

We’ve had a lot of rain as you can see in Gus’ very soggy run. He has a matted covered stall with lots of sawdust, extra deep for this kind of weather. He has the choice to be in or out but he chooses in. He prefers to be dry and warm if given the choice. Me too! I’m grateful I have a nice set up for him that I don’t always have to take him to an indoor stall in bad weather. I think he’s dang smart that he chooses to lay down in his covered comfy stall at night!
I keep extra hay in front of him when the barometer drops and even if too wet to ride, he gets work in the round pen too. These are a few things we can do to help prevent colic. He’s a good drinker so I rarely am concerned with water intake. Mostly I keep my fingers crossed and watch him carefully multiple times a day to make sure the weather isn’t creating issues for him.
Good boy Gus! Clearing skies next week and warming up so training will begin again soon!

We spent the entire day back in the glorious wilderness of Agua Fria and Tonto and along the Great Western Trail. It was a wonderful day of exploring, I landed all my home research with pretty accurate GPS coordinates too! Arlo and I went everywhere and found numerous Native American ruins from 700-1100 AD. We ate our picnic lunch in the shadow of all those who came before us. I’m feeling the best I have in some time! We have four more ruins sites to get to and these have petroglyphs so we’re going back again next week. I want to spend some long time at those sites and just take it all in. I had so much fun and Arlo did too!

Arlo and I took off this afternoon on the most far reaching petroglyph hunt we’ve ever done! We were on the historic Great Western Trail in the footsteps of missionaries and pioneers long before us. I knew we were SO close to where we what we were looking for….so we’re heading back out early tomorrow to look some more. Fingers crossed 🤞

Got a little rain this morning and early afternoon, finally! 🌧️ Worked up both arenas and they look great! 🚜🐴🐴
Warmer weather is due in so Gus and I will be riding. Yippee! 🥳 Devon is doing well with regular daily turnout and round pen work, so it’s time to work on that ground driving and keep progressing. He’s pretty good about letting me know when he’s ready for next training steps. ❤️
