Bijou Creek Arena is located 3 miles east of Wiggins, CO We are holding ranch roping practices currently. In the future, we plan to hold novice Ranch Roping jackpots for those new to the big loop style of roping. We don't charge for riders under 16, for adults the cost is $10 for the night/day. We do a pasture gather of our roping cattle approximately 1/2 hour before we begin. This is great for t

hose horses who need some tune up as the pasture includes the Bijou Creek bottom. Great to warm up horses and riders both. We have 3 basic rules-- Be nice to others, have fun and be prepared to take some teasings. Our main objective is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for those who are just learning the Ranch Roping aspects. We have veterans of Ranch Roping who are more than willing to help with any questions or concerns of the novice roper.

Keanu Reeves was abandoned by his father at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter died at birth. His wife died in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister has leukemia.
And with everything that has happened, Keanu Reeves never misses an opportunity to help people in need. When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants; One cried because he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 and on the same day Keanu deposited the necessary amount in the woman's bank account; He also donated stratospheric sums to hospitals.
In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery and bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him.
After winning astronomical sums for the Matrix trilogy, the actor donated more than $50 million to the staff who handled the costumes and special effects - the true heroes of the trilogy, as he called them.
He also gave a Harley-Davidson to each of the stunt doubles. A total expense of several million dollars. And for many successful films, he has even given up 90% of his salary to allow the production to hire other stars.
In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours.
Most stars when they make a charitable gesture they declare it to all the media. He has never claimed to be doing charity, he simply does it as a matter of moral principles and not to look better in the eyes of others.
This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: To be a good person.
Keanu Reeves’ father is of Native Hawaiian descent
southern Mexico.]

A family stands before a 1,341-year-old Sequoia tree known as "Mark Twain," which was cut down in 1892 in the Pacific Northwest. The tree, towering at 331 feet (100 meters) in height, was brought down by a pair of men who worked for 13 days to saw it.

Apparently we were not meant to have practices this year... between Don's shoulder surgery and the fact the Bijou has now flooded 2 times in a little more than a month. That lease pasture was our ground for roping cattle. Mother Nature always seems to get the last laugh

Neighbor lady saw me last night and said it was dangerous pulling out onto the highway from the county road, especially in a lower profile car versus a truck. I thanked her for the reminder and this morning I mowed the ditch at the intersection. Didn’t wait for someone to get hurt or for the state crew to get the mowing done.

I’m not big on the “thank a farmer” thing but if you’re a motorist who can safely see because of a nicely mowed rural intersection, it’s probably due to a landowner or farmer.

Happy New Year to all! We wish for everyone to enjoy a year full of big loops, great horses, polite cattle :) and fun for all
We are hoping that Mother Nature is not so windy, blesses us with a wet spring and moisture. We can do without the wind but will take any moisture she grants for our area.
Keep an eye on this page as we will be thinking about getting back in the swing with practices once the weather warms up and the days get a tad bit longer.

2022 Rocky Mountain Ranch Ropers. Here is some information on the Oct. 15, 2022, Finals. For starters, we want to announce that the Finals have some added monies to each division. The final amount has not been counted but we are working hard to get a nice payout for Open and Novice.

For anyone wanting to come early and need horse accommodations, call Robin Varelman at Livestock Exchange. Robin has been gracious enough to offer pens for overnight at the sale barn. Robin's number is 970 380 3798. Call her directly to make arrangements. There aren't any overnight stalls available at the grounds, there is a campground there but nothing for horses.

Our judges are Pat Hall and Tarrin McClain. Ginny Harrington will be our announcer.

To enter, please do so with Nancy Marshall 970 302 0070 - text or call - or via PM from this page. Entries need to be done no later than Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 pm If entries are done after this cutoff time, an additional $25 late fees will be added to the entry fee.

There is also going to be a FREE 10 and under kids dummy roping. The kids will be vying for a buckle, ropes and other prizes. The parents of RMRRSHA will be the sponsors for this event. This is such a fun thing for the kids to be involved with. We hope to start with the dummy roping around noon. If you have a 10 and under entry, please contact Nancy Marshall 970 302 0070 via text, call or PM on this page so we can get an accurate count on our kids. You do NOT have to enter -we are just wanting to get an accurate county so we can make sure to have the number of prizes needed.

If you have any questions or need information, contact
ut Don Marshall 970 590 5288 or Matt Hunter 970 768 5738. These guys will be able to help you. For anyone wishing to donate to the prizes or the added monies, contact Don Marshall ~ Matt Hunter or Nancy Marshall or any board member.
