An important reminder that the Night Drop boxes are for stray animals not owner surrendered pets. During the busiest time of the year, these need to be a safe-haven for lost pets. Thank you for the report NBC LA and #tonyshin #microchip #lostpet #2019

ATTENTION: HEART BREAKING VIDEO
This page was created to show the public what an Animal Control Officer deals with on a daily basis. This video is heart breaking to watch but the kitten, now named “Ducky” by the Officer, is doing fine.
AFV’s Animal Control Officer was dispatched after receiving a call from a citizen reporting that they heard what sounded like a kitten crying and went to investigate. The Good Samaritan opened a trash can and this is how the kitten was found. Duct taped and thrown away like trash. The duct tape was safely removed without injuries and “Ducky” is safe in one of our amazing foster homes. AFV Animal Control is investigating this crime, we cannot disclose the location as we are collecting video from the surrounding area, this is an open investigation.
So when you see an Officer and they seem to be having a bad day, they probably are. This Officer had to finish his shift with this kitten on his heart. As I have said before I am so proud to be their Chief.
See Ducky’s update photo in the comments. 🐥
This could have ended badly.
