We LOVE a successful microchip tale, so here's a heartwarming one for you!

This adorable fella was discovered hanging out in our receptionist Misti's yard. The moment he laid eyes on her, he made a beeline towards her. It was like he knew she was the ticket to getting back home. Misti brought him along today for a quick microchip scan, and voila! He had a chip, and his family had it all set up! After a call from Misti, Simba was back in his mom's arms. A reunion after 7 days on the lam - talk about a paw-some ending!

We are so excited to announce that Dr. Matt Bechtel will be joining Dr. Leonard and our team as a full-time DVM starting on August 6.

Dr. Bechtel is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian whose values and practices align perfectly with those of Cherry Hills. We are confident you will be extremely pleased with his expertise.

He has worked in multiple small animal practices in the St. Louis area including 11 years in Wildwood. After 5 years in Weldon Spring, MO he is excited to be coming back to Wildwood to join the CHVH team.

Wowza! This week has been exceptionally challenging on our team -mentally, physically, and emotionally.

We need a break. Not only for our well-being but also for the sake for our patients.

Today is World Veterinary Day, an occasion to appreciate the dedication of veterinarians worldwide, including our own Dr. Leonard, who humbly shies away from the limelight. We feel this is the perfect time to express gratitude for her and all veterinarians around the world who compassionately and skillfully care for the animals we love.

These essential healthcare professionals, often overlooked, work tirelessly every day with unwavering dedication. They undergo extensive medical training, constantly seeking new knowledge to care for our animals.

We haven't officially introduced Julia, one of our fantastic veterinary nurses. While Julia has been part of the Cherry Hills team for some time, she was recently promoted to the role of Patient Care Manager.

From a young age, Julia showed a natural talent for connecting with animals, excelling in communication, and understanding them deeply. By the age of 12, she had her heart set on a career in veterinary care. Julia graduated from Hazelwood Central and went on to successfully complete her studies at Hickey Veterinary Technician Institute.

Julia’s experience extends to caring for a wide range of animals, from rats and hamsters to snakes and horses. During her free time, she enjoys leisurely walks, reading, and creating memories with her 2-year-old son, Greyson, her puppy Ranger, and feline duo, Puddles and Penny.

We hit the jackpot with having Julia on our Cherry Hills team and we think our clients and patients couldn't agree more!

Today, we had a special visitor! Allison had the opportunity to experience a day as a veterinarian. She shadowed Dr. Leonard throughout her appointments and gained insights into the responsibilities of a veterinary nurse. Allison observed various procedures such as patient exams, laboratory tests, blood draws, and cystocentesis. With dreams of wearing the stethoscope herself one day, we're pretty sure she's destined to rule the animal kingdom!

Please give a warm welcome to our newest Veterinary Nurse, Abby!

Abby obtained her Associate of Occupational Science in Veterinary Technician from Midwest Institute in 2023 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Equestrian Studies, with an emphasis in Equine Science from William Woods in 2022. She has been involved in animal medicine, barn management, and equine care in the St. Louis area since her teenage years.

Abby is particularly interested in animal dentistry, radiology, and rehabilitation, with a focus on hydrotherapy for animal rehabilitation. Her goal is to offer these innovative services to aid in muscle strengthening, conditioning, and endurance building, relieving animals' discomfort and supporting injury recovery.

In her spare time Abby is hanging out with her sassy, beloved golden retriever, Comet or at a local barn, jumping the many horses she rides.

Excited to be part of the Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital team, Abby is dedicated to providing compassionate and progressive veterinary medical services.

Meet Cannoli, found near a local business and whisked to us by a kind soul for a microchip scan. Lo and behold, she had one! With a quick scan and some research by Misti, the chip number revealed Cannoli's dad, who had been on a wild search mission all morning.

Microchips for the win! Just remember to register them, so you can be reunited with your furry friend when they go astray!
