Watch where you store things, a chicken may think it is the perfect spot to lay on egg. I was using this old feed bag to store pine needles and she kindly thanked me with an egg.

Had an opportunity to bring home a swarm that decided to make a home inside an in ground electrical box. It was not the nicest day but the bees surprised me by being super friendly.
I find this side of bee keeping a lot of fun, although I will also say so far I have not come across a mean swarm as of yet.
If you find yourself with bees you did not invite please call a local beekeeper or a pest company that specializes in bee removal.

Roselle flavored kombucha
Got a chance to use our Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) in a different way this year. Normally we make tea and a type of cranberry sauce with it. This year we made a simple sugar with it by adding the same weight of calyxes to sugar and letting it sit for a week or so. A little bit goes a long way to flavor your choice of drinks.

Second best to fresh herbs from the garden is dried herbs from the garden. Parsley is dried and bottled so we can continue enjoying its harvest.
