💜!!Exciting Announcement!!💜

Starting this week, Thursday June 6th, we will be welcoming Jess to our team of passionate pet groomers and we couldn’t be happier! 🎉🎉
Jess has 9 years of grooming experience and helped me learn so much as a new groomer in 2018. I’ve seen firsthand how gentle and compassionate she is with pets, she perfectly embodies the holistic grooming style by prioritizing the comfort of the fur-babies in her care. She is also an extremely talented artist which always shines through in her grooming work, I’ve added some photos of her past work to this post, and I can’t wait to see the work she does at LFPS!
Jess will be working Thursday, Friday, and Saturday’s; and with that, our hours will be expanding; the new hours for those days will now be 8am-7:30pm.

Unfortunately I lost this cutie as a client yesterday; I wanted to take a minute and address why because it happens pretty often in the grooming industry.

Dad dropped off and gave instructions for a short haircut, leave the tail long and leave her topknot to keep her hair out of her eyes. He knew it had been awhile since her last groom so she wasn’t in the best shape; I let him know that wouldn’t be a problem since he wanted a short cut anyway.

I called him to get permission to charge a de-mat fee due to finding some really tight matting. He called back a few minutes later and said to do whatever I need to do for her and he was extremely kind on the phone and at drop off.

Mom picked her up and was extremely upset upon arrival. When I asked if the haircut was ok she let me know that she was very unhappy with the cut and did not want her hair short and that the pricing was ridiculous due to the $14 de-mat charge. Explaining to her that her husband requested a short cut and approved all the charges did not help either, it never does. She said she thought we were good groomers the first time she came in. Ouch. All I could do was apologize that the groom wasn’t up to her standards.

As any professional who takes pride in their work, I want to do everything I can to have a happy fur-baby AND pet parent at pick up. Especially with this little girl, she’s older and it took a lot of time to remove the mats, particularly in the areas where they were tightest like her delicate thin loose tummy skin. She also needed a lot of breaks during that process because she has weak legs and shaving mats takes a lot longer than untangled hair.

Long story long, IF YOU ARE PARTICULAR ABOUT YOUR PETS GROOM/ GROOM PRICING YOU NEED TO BE THE ONE DROPPING YOUR PET OFF AND THE ONE AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNICATION DURING THE APPOINTMENT. Or at the very least don’t make your groomer feel bad for following the instructions given. I’ve seen this happen with spouses/significant others, neighbors, assistants dropping off pets for someone else. PS this is the 1st negative pickup experience since opening. I love my many kind, supportive, generous, and encouraging clients 💜

Look at handsome, happy Mr. Snoopy 😍

His mom told us she was so happy to find a groomer who could get the hair off of his face for him after trying 4 other salons! 💜 Holistic grooming has worked so well for him, you can read more about what that entails on our website lavenderfieldspetspa.com.

I am so grateful to be able to provide a holistic grooming environment for dogs with a fear of the grooming process. There are many reasons why a dog might be fearful during a grooming session, and to be able to help them through that fear over time is so rewarding because that change will benefit them for the rest of their life! 💜

The first time Snoopy came in Caitlyn found out he reacted a lot better while working on his face with her shears! While it took a lot longer than clippers would’ve, Caitlyn was able to hand scissor his entire head with time and gentle praise and a few breaks to run and play around the spa to break up his nervous energy☺️

And just a note about my team member, it has been awesome to see Caitlyn grow so much as a groomer in such a short period of time. She has been able to really take her time perfecting her grooming techniques and it shows! I admire her passion and patience working with our senior pets and nervous babies! Thank you Caitlyn💕

January’s Seasonal Options!
(Included in spa package or add separately: $5 Bows and/or Bandana, $5 seasonal scent finishing spray)

We have 4 bandana options shown in the photos
and our seasonal scents for January are:

-Snow angel by Houndsly (notes of candy floss and pear)
-Cinnabon by Houndsly
-Cranberry champagne by Seasonal Scents

Yesterday ended up being a doodle and Dalmatian day! We have Marlee modeling the champagne and sparkles option (beware of glitter with this one),
Penny Lane modeling the penguins and sparkly snowflakes option,
Bambi girl modeling the sparkly silver snowflakes on her white bandana,
And last but not least we have handsome Bentley modeling our silver snowflakes on a navy blue bandana.

We are so excited for this month’s seasonal theme! What would you choose for your pup? Personally I love the penguins with sparkly snow flakes and the snow angel scent for my Brewski boy, but I also love the giant dramatic glitter bow with the champagne option. New year, New Ozzy!

Ozzy is from SPCA of Luzerne County, just like my Brewski boy! I was so happy to meet him and give him a new look for the new year! Mom wanted to try a clean face for Ozzy, and no-maintenance ears (we love a clean lamb ear style).
He is such a joyful boy and I can’t wait to experiment with different styles/ color on him 💜
