Here at Bagby Family Labs we prepare our dogs for raising puppies with their health in mind. This is why we follow the OFA-CHIC guidelines for preparing our dogs for parenthood.

🐾What is CHIC?🐾
It is the "Canine Health Information Center" through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). They compile information gathered from health testing areas like, bone/joint health, cardiac health, ophthalmology health, and genetic disease testing. There goal is to collect health information to better breeds and improve the quality of puppies that breeders produce. To learn more about the Labrador Breed, and many more check out the link.

🐾For our dogs to become parens we require:🐾
💙X-rays for their hip and elbow joints. These have to be graded normal to excellent, and show no signs of hip/elbow dysplasia.

💙Cardiac Exam: dogs must pass with a normal cardiac evaluation of there ECG (Electrocardiogram)

💙Ophthalmology: dogs must display normal eye health and show no signs of defects

💙Genetic Screening: preformed through "Embark DNA Testing" , dogs must be clear of genetic diseases that are primarily found in Labrador Retrievers.

BFL's Blue Winged 💚Teal💚

Teal is an absolute monster when it comes to playing fetch and going to retrieve. Even though she has a huge tank of energy, don't let that fool you! She is a die hard for any type of snuggles or scratches.
​
Teal is an excellent listener and always up for an adventure with both mom or dad! She never is one to shy away from anything new, and remains calm, cool, and collected when exposed to new things. She's got a a great intuitive mind, and loves to be curious.
​
When all the hard work of retrieving or going out swiming is over, you can catch Teal taking a snooze in the recliner or in the shade outside. While she has a go-getter personality she becomes a "Certified" couch potato really fast!

B&N Gem of the Prairie 🌻💛Laramie💛🌻

Laramie, is our little instigator.... haha, she is not naughty by any means, but will stir the pot with her older pack members. She is one of the smartest dogs we have owned as a couple! She loves to tease her family members and chase the ball around the shop! She is an absolute sucker for pets and b***y scratches. 🤣

If you ever need to find anything that you have lost or misplaced, bring Miss Laramie along. She has a knack for finding any lost bolt or screws that you might have misplaced.

When she's not doing her detective works in the shop with Ethan and I, you can catch her strolling through the yard with her nose to the ground. Eventually her puppy energy subsides, and she... like her fellow family member, Brisby, will curl up an lay down right next to you!

Laramie will complete her health testing at the age of 2 (August of 2025) with her first litter planned for fall of 2025!!

BFL Co. Miss RodeoTime 🩵Brisby🩵

Brisby is 100% my little sweetheart. She has an "old soul" and is by far our most gentlest dog in our pack! She prefers to sit with her humans and hear the gossip! Brisby has a great mind and is always eager to please. She is a quick learner and has a very expressive face!

While many of our other dogs love to retrieve and view it as a competition, Brisby would much rather play one-on-one with Ethan and I, and her amazing rope/tire toy! She is a snuggle bug through and through. If you cant find her with the other dogs she is most likely to be found laying right underneath or behind you!

Brisby will complete her health testing at the age of 2 (January of 2025) with her first litter planned tentatively in spring of 2025!

Bagby's Whistling 🌸Dixie🌸

Dixie has been a tremendous addition to our family! She is our foundational female to Bagby Family Labradors Co. Dixie has produced many puppies for us. She deserves her well earned retirement. She has been a phenomenal mother! Dixie has a great mind and is fearless.

Dixie now will get to view other ladies with there litters, and begin her new role as "Auntie Dixie"!! Her playful and calm demeanor will be excellent for when we get more little kiddos around! We cannot give Dixie enough love and admiration for her, and her beautiful puppies she has produced over the years!!! Thank you so much Dixie for being a rockstar!

Ethan’s Vanilla 💙R***r💙 Wafer

R***r is the original dog to our family. He is Ethan and I's first dog we owned as a couple. He has been through it all with us and has aged gracefully into his "old-soul" personality. There isn't anything that gets R***r goin, he is about as mellow as they come.
​
He goes with us almost anywhere and is the favorite amongst all of our extended family! R***r loves to get out and retrieve with us when we finally get a chance to go hunting between our busy work schedules. R***r loves to play with his other family members at anytime. In his older age he has become more of a "couch-potato", and that is just fine by Ethan and I. We love him to pieces and he is the one that started it all for us!

Since it’s been a while, and we have gained some new friends and followers lately, Ethan and I would like to introduce ourselves again!

So hello!!! 👋🏼 We are thrilled you found our page, and share a love for Labradors like we do!

Ethan and I started dating in August of 2018! Soon after, we added R***r to our family! About a year later Dixie came along, and from there the rest is history.

When we’re not busy at home with our many fur-children, we’re busy at work! Ethan is a full time mechanic at Quality Service Corp. I work at Iowa State University as an animal caretaker in the Therio(reproductive) department at the Large Animal Veterinary Hospital.

This past year Ethan and I got married, and in August we will celebrate our first wedding anniversary. That day was also made special for us because Dixie and Chance welcomed their second litter to the world too! 🥳… my poor planning, weddings and whelping… that’s not stressful 🤣

Ethan and I share an obvious love for our Labradors, and like our dogs we also share of love for hunting and fishing…. However, despite what our dogs think, they don’t make good fishermen…must be something about their technique. They just can’t get it down that fish don’t like dock diving 😜. Whether it’s for deer, ducks, pheasants, etc. you can find us outside with our dogs hunting or swimming!!!

We have found such a love for raising our puppies and sending them to new homes! It has allowed us to travel and change peoples lives by giving them a new family member. I didn’t think 5 years ago when we started this journey, that we would get to deliver a dog to Auburn, New York, Boston, MA, Oklahoma, or New Jersey! We couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities our dogs have given us!

Ethan and I want to give you another warm welcome and thank you for tagging along with us and our little couch potatoes 🐾💙
