This morning this teeny tiny 4 week old kitten we named Saurekraut was found outside at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We are so thankful someone found this little nugget and brought her in. With the help of a cozy blanket, heating pad, and staff snuggles Saurekraut is warming up right now and looking for alert. We will be looking for a foster to give Saurekraut the TLC needed to grow big and strong.

Turn that frown upside down! Blonde Ambition's New Year's Resolution for 2025 is to smile more! 😁

He's been practicing cheesin' 🧀 for the camera and is already doing a great job, don't you think?! Want a surefire way to put a smile on your face every day? Adopt this good boy ASAP! He's a little shy at first, but extremely sweet and loving! He came in as a stray, most likely living outside on his own for a while, so his shyness is completely understandable. With patience, love, and plenty of treats he will warm up to his people in no time.

This Saturday is our Vision Board Workshop! Start 2025 the right way by making resolutions and creating opportunities to reset. This workshop is all about setting intentions, visualizing your goals, and creating a powerful vision board that will inspire and motivate you throughout the year. As a reminder, our adoption center will be closing early tomorrow (Dec. 31) at 3 p.m. and will be closed all day on Jan. 1.

The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 4548 surprised us with a very special donation today. Alfred (an adoptable pup) helped accept the check for $2,500, which will go twice as far with the Year-End Gift Match Challenge sponsored by Michelle and Steve Seiling, owners of Aromas Specialty Coffees & Gourmet Bakery and The Hound's Tale, along with other generous donors in our community. 💌 Letter from Rudy...

Dear Friends at HHS,

Meowy Christmas!! It’s me, Rudy, writing to express a heartfelt thank you for taking such wonderful care of me while I was waiting for my forever home.

My new family is absolutely purr-fect. I have a big brother, Buddy. At first, I was a little nervous meeting him, but he’s been so gentle and patient with me. He is teaching me a lot about how to be a big kitty. We spend our days napping on the new couch, playing chase, and even sharing snacks (well, sometimes he’s a little reluctant to share, but I’m working on it!).

You gave me a safe place to stay, yummy meals, and lots of love when I needed it most. I’ll never forget how you cared for me and so many others like me. Please keep doing what you’re doing — you’re changing lives, one paw at a time.

We certainly wrapped up 2024 with some amazing adoptions and new beginnings!

Pictured is Peter, one of our amazing . He dedicates his time to walking and socializing with the shelter dogs multiple times a week. He spends hours of his day here and all the pups at HHS ❤️❤️ Peter. He recently met a special little poodle puppy named Pluto at the shelter. Peter and his wife instantly fell in love with him and decided to make things official! Help us in wishing them a lifetime of joy, cuddles, and adventures!

It's winter break and that means our Winter Break Animal Camp is almost here! ❄️

If you're looking for a fun and furry experience for your kids, sign them up today! Camp will be on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for 4th—6th graders.

Registration includes a festive holiday t-shirt, crafts, games, morning and afternoon snacks, a pizza and holiday cookie-decorating party, and behind-the-scenes experiences at our facility.

"Dante did amazing during the car ride, he laid down in my backseat looking out the window the entire time. Super friendly to everyone who came up to pet him, there were some school field trips going on and he did amazing with all of the children who lined up to love on him. He really loved sitting on the benches and snuggling while watching all of the people walking by. Dante is an all around amazing dog who would make a great addition to anyone’s family!"
