Last weekend, we gathered to honor Dr. Cheri Beasley's retirement after 33 wonderful years at Cedar Creek Veterinary Clinic. In her time at Cedar Creek, Dr. Beasley provided compassionate care and guidance to countless pets and their families (and to all of us).

Please join us in celebrating her incredible career and wishing her a happy and fulfilling retirement. Thank you, Dr. Beasley, for the difference you've made in so many lives ❤️

It can be tough to commit to daily dog walks during lengthy Michigan winters, but these outings are crucial for our canine companions year-round! Beyond your pet's daily need for exercise, walks are a time for your dog to receive companionship by spending time with you and stimulation by exploring (read: sniffing) the outside world 🐕🚶‍♀️

Walks are about more than exercise — for dogs, only hanging out in a backyard is like reading the same book again and again.

You may have seen recent headlines about an atypical canine infectious respiratory illness seen in other states. There are multiple causes of respiratory diseases in dogs, many of which can be prevented or minimized through routine vaccination or timely veterinary care. You can click through the link for more up-to-date information from MSU and MDARD. They are currently recommending that dog owners:

-Work with their veterinarian to ensure their dog is up to date on routine vaccinations.
-Make sure their dog is fully vaccinated before interacting with other dogs.
-Avoid food and water bowls shared by multiple unknown dogs.
-Contact their veterinarian if their dog is exhibiting any signs of illness and keep their dog at home and away from other dogs.
-Keep their dog away from dogs that are sick or whose vaccination status is unknown.

There are a multitude of pathogens that cause respiratory disease in dogs. Veterinarians and diagnostic laboratories are working with state and federal agencies to identify a cause in recent cases.
